Geysir, sometimes known as The Great Geysir, is a geyser in southwestern Iceland. It was the first geyser described in a printed source and the first known to modern Europeans. The English word geyser (a periodically spouting hot spring) derives from Geysir.

As you can see Mt Bromo has a small eruption.

The beginning of the solar storm a month ago. Taken along the Denali Highway.

Taken on August 4. 2022 in Reykjavik Iceland of the eruption in Mt. Fagradalsfjall

It's 6.39am at Pilibhit Junction and the sun is only just breaking through the atmosphere to bring an extra bit of light, and warmth, to the day.

Meanwhile YDM-4 unit 6681 is creating an atmosphere of its own as it draws away from its train (I suspect an arrival from Izatnagar) before it eventually backs on to its next duty, the 7.20am Pilibhit - Shahjahanpur service (train 52231). Such eruptions on YDM4s were commonplace when the regulator was opened up, and it didn't take long for newbie snappers such as myself to cotton on and wait for the moment!

Note the back of the dolly signal mounted at head-height on the right-hand signal post giving it right to proceed. Pilibhit, rather like Barnetby, was one of the last major bastions of semaphore signalling and, additionally, a major centre for the fast shrinking metre-gauge network. Since this shot was taken conversion to broad gauge has been completed for some of the lines just here and, as far as I can ascertain, in progress on others.

For sure, scenes like this at Pilibhit are a thing of the past.

Iceland October 2014. a set of beautiful shots taken in complete darkness between 4am and 6am. The light of the Bárðarbunga eruption at Holuhraun adds a moment in time to the picture. I learnt taking pictures in darkness is very creepy and hard, this is the result.

Evoluzioni temporalesche. Cielo in eterna lotta tra il bello e il brutto tempo. Tra il paradiso e l'inferno.

Thank you all for your comments and faves.

From the volcanic eruption in Meradalir, SW-Iceland, in 2022, some 11 months ago. Now a new eruption is imminent in the vicinity, after an intense earthquake swarm due to upwelling magma. It could start at any time - my guess is tomorrow, 8 July. Hopefully it will be similar to the 2021 and 2022 eruptions - a tame and beautiful lava eruption in a wilderness area, where it will cause no harm. The likely eruption site is quite close to important roads and a fishing village, as well as the Keflavík international airport and the famous tourist attraction of the Blue Lagoon.

This shot was taken at Seagrove Beach, FL. These clouds almost seem to be erupting from the ocean.

Die Datei schien zunächst unscheinbar, aber im Laufe der Bearbeitung ergaben sich immer mehr Möglichkeiten, kreativ zu werden. Pusteblume goes creative ;-)

I took many photos of this amazing sunset. It hit 9 on my JH sundex. That is pretty rare. I usually expect one sunset a year to do that.

De hoofdkrater vanop 3000 m hoogte. De krater zelf ligt nog een 300 meter hoger maar wordt zelden beklommen omwille van zijn aktiviteit.

The main crater at 3000m altitude. The crater itself is another 300m higher but is rarely climbed because of his activity.

A 4am start for a bluebell sunrise - but when the sunrise looks like this - golds and reds erupting over a sea of bluebells - you don’t mind so much!!

This was taken on a trip to the top of Latrigg near Keswick in the Lake District. Literally 15 minutes previously it had been pouring with rain and visibility was almost zero. Welcome to the British weather.

Many thanks to all those who fave or comment always very much appreciated

The Fagradalsfjall volcano on 26 May 2021. The eruption has been going for almost 70 days and shows no sign of abating. The main crater has become huge, a hissing opening from hell in a vast sea of black lava sprinkled with glowing veins and eyes. Last time I visited the activity was modest but continuous, with pretty lava fountains. Now the magma flow has increased and the action comes in pulses, with a few minutes of lull and then a geyser-like intense eruption for almost a minute. Quite the spectacle - still as much in awe on my 5th visit as on my first!
