Continuing catching up....
While working on the Terschelling photos I kept going outside, the upcoming uploads are (now edited) from the spring as it erupted then...
Beehive erupts from a 4 foot tall, smooth sided cone that reminded the early Washburn Expedition of 1870 of an old fashioned straw beehive, hence the name.
"Beehive Geyser is taller than Old Faithful and eruptions last about a minute longer than Old Faithful. While Old Faithful is beautiful, Beehive Geyser is arguably one of the prettiest geysers with its graceful, tall slender jet of water that reaches up to 200 feet (60 meters) if the wind is calmer. Top measurement was at 218 ft.
Since the boardwalk is close, there’s it the potential of getting drenched to the skin in the spray. While the water that erupts from the cone is hot, the spray quickly cools to quite a cold shower which is not a bad thing on a hot summer’s day. Noticing the wind direction is a good thing to do when watching an eruption from the boardwalk. There are geyser gazers (geyser enthusiasts) who bring ponchos and umbrellas just to stand in this different type of “holy water.” Also, know that the water has silica in it, and if allowed to dry on surfaces (camera lenses, glasses, etc.) it can leave a mineral deposit that’s difficult to clean off. I found that out the hard way, with the mist ruining a new polarizer. Lesson learned.

Taal lake and Taal Vulcano
We were just passing by there in 2024.
Just one small stop for this view.
In one of the first year's we visited the Philippines, we climbed on a donkey the beautiful green part, the Binintiang Malaki (Big Leg), one of the dormant parts of Taal Volcano to the volcano lake.
Taal is a very powerful volcano , the whole island is a high-risk area.
Despite the warnings, some families remain settled on the island, earning a living by fishing and farming crops in the rich volcanic soil
It is in Calabarzon on the island Luzon, Philippines
Taal has erupted many times, ands in 2020 was a really big eruption ad and this natural disaster caused many problems.
And now it is so strange and a bit scary to see Taal back in this condition.

It is now time for an image of the iconic Old Faithful geyser. On the day we visited the geyser, the next eruption was predicted to erupt at 12 noon. We positioned ourselves in the best place to take photographs and waited. Sure enough the geyser erupted at almost exactly twelve noon. Another image of Old Faithful is in the first comment section.
Old Faithful is a cone geyser located in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, United States. Old Faithful was named in 1870 during the Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition and was the first geyser in the park to receive a name. It is a highly predictable geothermal feature; since 2000, it has erupted every 44 to 125 minutes.
More than 1,000,000 eruptions have been recorded. Harry Woodward first described a mathematical relationship between the duration and intervals of the eruptions in 1938. Old Faithful is not the tallest or largest geyser in the park; those titles belong to the less predictable Steamboat Geyser. The reliability of Old Faithful can be attributed to the fact that it is not connected to any other thermal features of the Upper Geyser Basin.
Eruptions can shoot 3,700 to 8,400 US gallons (14,000 to 32,000 L) of boiling water to a height of 106 to 185 feet (32 to 56 m) lasting from 1 1⁄2 to 5 minutes. The average height of an eruption is 145 feet (44 m). Intervals between eruptions can range from 35 to 120 minutes, averaging 66.5 minutes in 1939, slowly increasing to an average of 90 minutes today, which may be the result of earthquakes affecting subterranean water levels. The disruptions have made earlier mathematical relationships inaccurate but have made Old Faithful more predictable in terms of its next eruption. – Wikipedia
Like the eruption of Krakatoa, the Red-necked Grebe mated pairs regularly erupt into this raucous dialog between them. Here these two are doing their bit with beaks open and sound waves blasting my ears ;)

White Dome Geyser is a conspicuous cone-type geyser located in the Lower Geyser Basin along Firehole Lake Drive. It's 12-foot-high geyser cone is one of the largest in the park."
Geysers are rare. There are more than 300 of them in Yellowstone in the western United States—approximately half the world’s total—and about 200 on the Kamchatka Peninsula in the Russian Far East, about 40 in New Zealand, 16 in Iceland, and 50 scattered throughout the world in many other volcanic areas.

I was trying for a Milky Way shot and couldn't get a good one with something in the near foreground, so I decided to try and get SP Crater looking like it was erupting the Milky Way. Meh. Dunno why there is
that weird flare on Jupiter. I'm guessing dirt on the lens?
I captured one meteor. Later a HUGE meteor came down. I was very excited. But as you can see below, I had 3 dark frames. Yep, I had the lens cap on for the big meteor. D'oh!

From the volcano eruption in Geldingadalur, Iceland. This is from my second trip there, in May in a flight. The crader is much bigger and the eruption is pulsating but the lava flow is steady. The area I walked on in the first time is now under lava. It was snowing most of the time, making photoshooting not easy.
One of my all time favorite spots to photograph in the Tetons....every day offers something a little bit different than the day before, and each season offers a different perspective. This one was shot last May, as all the spring colors were emerging, and on this particular morning, the clouds were just hanging over Mt. Moran, giving it an appearance of erupting. Getting up early definitely has its advantages at times :-)

Great Western Manor class No. 7812 "Erlestoke Manor" puts on a show for the gallery, during a 30742 photo charter at the Severn Valley railway. 7812, sporting a Cambrian coast express headboard for one of her swansongs before bowing out of traffic for a overhaul, was pictured at the Tenbury wall near Bewdley.
By far my favorite trip to Thors Well, we arrived Friday evening just in time for sunset and timed the high tide perfectly. I was in the middle of a bunch of photographers who were wearing rain gear and had umbrellas protecting their cameras. I was wearing shorts, t shirt and tennis shoes and I got completely drenched by the waves and almost hypothermia by the time I got finished taking pictures. It was totally worth it, I had a great time and I was in my element.
Vixen geyser erupts on June 11, 2020 in the Back Bsin at Norris Geyser Basin, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. This little geyser is one of my favorites when in an active series. This was an active day for Vixen with 3 “minor’ eruptions viewed over an hour interval. Vixen is a fun geyser to watch with interesting sounds and play. Minor eruption seldon reach more than 15 feet but it is a beautiful sight, The eruption ends with a down vent wirlpool and a girgling sound. Sort of like someone flushed the toliet. It is memorable. Rare ‘major” eruptions do occur with Vixen reaching heights of 30 feet, twice normal. Sadly, none on this day.
