Too many clouds for a classic sunset, but in the blue hour, the Marmolada massif dressed itself with some purple clouds, can't imagine something more epic. Or I can?

...is what you think, when the peaks peeping out of the clouds & mist. This should be one of the "Bullenköpfe" near the "Tre Cime di Lavaredo".

Seletar Fishing Village

Located at the mangrove area between Yishun Ave 1 (or commonly known as Yishun dam) and Pulau Punggol Barat, Seletar Fishing Village is probably one of the last places in Singapore where you can find local fishermen making a living by the sea.

“Epic” was the word that kept springing to mind as I looked at this scenery in Gudvangen, Norway, while waiting for the boat to take us on a cruise along the fjord.

Crepuscular Rays peak above the sun

In New Mexico, the railways are filled with trains both cargo and passenger, but no matter, the sunrises and sunsets are spectacular as a new day begins or an old day ends.

You won’t find many things more epic than catching sight of the ocean from a high vantage point! It still takes my breath away.

The word epic is nowadays often used affectionately to simply mean “awesome” or “memorable.” One forgets that it actually names an ancient genre of long poetry, legendary stories about heroic journeys and histories.

Surely the biggest and longest and most exciting of all stories is the miracle of life evolving on this planet, and who better than the Mother of Life herself, the sea, to artfully deliver the grand telling of her song? Scientists and artists listen as she tells of her creative feats. Indigenous peoples listen as she tells of the ancestors. Wounded people listen as she tells of her struggles. Her waters touch and connect all of Earth.

When you stand on top of a mountain gazing at the sea, you will feel ready to listen to her epic tale.

it seems I come across one of these each year...in the comments, the previous two years. i think this one holds its own...

Sometimes there is nothing wrong with in the face epic, no subtle nuances of colours here. Making up for a dull solstice here is a photo I took earlier this month.

Well, in my last post I mentioned that I not only should make shots at sunrise and sunset … and this is so true but … he he he … the sunrise was indeed very epic and fabulous the morning I made this image here. At first I was a little worried because there was no cloud in sight that morning. But when finally that light came … ho ho ho … what a sunrise. For sure I was prepared to everything and was waiting a long time in the dark and cold … but finally I was rewarded with this! What an area here at one of my preferred spots in the mountains. I can always find something new in terms of composition … there are so many possibilities here. It is not surprising that I always visit this place again and again. I hope you enjoy this vista and vision here!

A massive, swirling supercell storm cloud looms over a flat rural landscape, casting dramatic shadows and creating a vivid contrast against the fields below. The sky is a mix of dark gray and lighter hues near the horizon, possibly indicating an approaching storm.

Another cherry blossom shot from my 2019 archives that was not published on Flickr (three more to go).

It is not controversial that the Iranian regime was and is a dictatorial one without respect for human rights. The issue now is rather that the "Operation Epic Fury" is outside international law, a war of aggression whilst negotiations were still happening, and an international gamble without a clearly defined outcome. Encouraging the Iranian population to rise up is certainly not a replacement for a proper strategy. If one invokes the law of the jungle one should not be surprised when one is judged by it. I dont think any words in the history of the world can describe the epicness of this shot!

This is my new desktop wallpaper for the remainder of this week! :woot:

There is an old adage in photography that states, "f8 and be there". How else can I explain this epic sunset photo? As it happened, my location was ideal to catch the light that seemed to arch over the clouds. While it appeared to billow in puffy sections above, a very different looking mass appeared at the center point below.

The rest fell into place as the magic of nature unfolded above my water side perch. In an attempt to properly title this shot, the word "epic" kept coming up. Having photographed this location multiple times over many years, this is the most astonishing light I have captured here, to date.

A classic that even non-musicians recognise from only the first couple of notes.

This solo is probably more recognisable than the rest of the song itself.

Alnwick is a market town in Northumberland, England, of which it is the traditional county town.

The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward. Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground. And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they shall go in after them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, his chariots, and his horsemen. And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”

Then the angel of God who was going before the host of Israel moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them, coming between the host of Egypt and the host of Israel. And there was the cloud and the darkness. And it lit up the night[a] without one coming near the other all night.

Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. The Egyptians pursued and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. And in the morning watch the Lord in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down on the Egyptian forces and threw the Egyptian forces into a panic, clogging[b] their chariot wheels so that they drove heavily. And the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from before Israel, for the Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.”

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.” So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the Lord threw[c] the Egyptians into the midst of the sea. The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, not one of them remained. But the people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

So endeth this reading.......of the dark and light sands of Fascadale beach (a patch about 60cm wide) where I saw the Israelites raise their hands to the Heavens in fear as all around them the sea boiled and tossed. And God spake with a bolt of lightning that put fear in the Egyptian army as they faced death below the waves.
