EOLA STATE PARK OREGON

The unusual growth of these two Sitka Spruce branches made the perfect base for these ferns.

Lake Eola Park is a public park located in Downtown Orlando, Florida. The lake is actually a sinkhole and is famous for its fountain. The fountain changes colors at night like a light show.

The park was established in 1892. The "Centennial Fountain," was installed in 1957.

The majestic fountain and graceful swan boats make Lake Eola an exceptional amenity to the area.

During one of my frequent pre-COVID business trips to suburban Chicago, and before meeting a colleague for dinner, I had a little time to kill, so I took a side trip to BNSF’s yard in Eola, Illinois. I saw what I thought was a pair of leasers working on the south side of the yard, but then I noticed the BNSF swoosh on the nose. It was a so-called “smurf”, one of a few units to be patched this way.

In times of need, the watchtowers of Eolas are manned to protect and give spirit to the nearby villages.

I was having a look down my stream and I realized I had only made one round tower. So feeling that it was compulsory to have a go at another I came up with this. I think the result was much better than I had planned and the landscape was a bit of an experiment but I am really happy with the end look. Flowers and vines make things look pretty :p

Hope you enjoy and C&C needed.

After waiting for an intermodal train to clear, BNSF 1755 brings R-CHI476 up to speed in Steward, Illinois, only to go into the siding at Shabbona.

The lake is actually a sinkhole and is famous for its fountain. The sinkhole is approximately 23 feet 8 inches (7.21 m) deep and is located 100 feet (30.5 m) east of the fountain. The fountain changes colors at night like a light show. A 0.9-mile (1.4 km) multi-use sidewalk surrounds the water.

The City of Orlando rents pedal-powered swan boats on historic Lake Eola so guests can view the park from the lake and enjoy the fountain up close.

Standing near the old Eola Road grade crossing, I was able to catch these two units building a train in Eola yard as the sun set. Had to use every millimeter of my zoom, but it was worth it.
