Yes that’s the baby reptilian shapeshifter staring in the opposite direction. From the other dogs. She doesn’t quite fit in anywhere. She dances to her own beat when she isn’t barking at invisible creatures she is dragging in rocks from the yard the size of her paw proudly displaying it. She brings joy to us all and is the funniest quirkiest dog we have ever known

It was a Saturday night dog sitting entertaining evening with jefa alias baby Socrates and her elderly siblings or I should say underlings . She took beau’s Corner bed and stared at me and wondered why I don’t fall for her naughty human like behaviors. She was assessing me. A full out study. The wheels turn continually on this willful halarious pups mental mechanisms. She is pack leader and then some. She says jump and they say how high? Beau and angi have to be granted permission to enter back into the house as she tells them they need fresh air and she will let them know when they can come back in. I try not to let her catch me laughing but I fail miserably. The dog whisperer would have a challenge with this one.,

Now that the mature males have left for Central America the young immature males are enjoying the once forbidden flowers that belonged to the males.
Growing up in Stratford Ontario, the annual high school football match-up between the 2 schools in town was known as the Red Feather football game (for reasons I never quite knew). In honour of that on this Superbowl Sunday, I've posted this image taken this past week of this red feathered Cardinal.
Best of luck to Chiefs and 49's today and looking forward to an entertaining game!!

I just love these little rodants. They are very entertaining to watch. First class acrobats and very curious. And on top of that ...very beautiful. Its a pleasure to watch and photographe them.
...ignoring, for the moment, the fact that he eats all the birdseed.

The smell of food aroused the baby reptilian shapeshifter from a deep slumber. She smelled fried chimkin (chicken) and decided leaving her alien pod to get her some larapin food was worth it.
He likes the sound of my Sony. But he stops to listen in inconvenient places, thus he is cropped to within an inch of his life here because of unwanted bits of branch.
This waterfall would be a part of the elven city.
Yes, I am an LOTR fan, if you couldn't tell from my dog's name ;P
Lower Falls Creek Falls, Gifford Pinchot National Forest, WA
What a beautiful waterfall. The hike had more elevation gain than I anticipated (I was missing my hiking poles after a while), but it was a great hike to a wonderful destination. The sunlight hitting the mist at the top really gave it a mystical feel. I bet if one timed it right one could really get some awesome sunburst action or morning mist magic.
Samwise and I arrived about 20min before a whole bunch of folks started to arrive, and by then we had turned around and were going up the other part of the Falls Creek Falls trail (WAY up), and there were some great places to pull over and watch the water and enjoy the sunshine. On our way back down we took the alternate route back to the parking lot, and I'm so glad we did. First off the forest was gorgeous; moss tufts clinging to bark, a carpet of green springy moss, light and shadows dappling the leaves and ferns, babbling creek sounds...oh so wonderful. And there were a lot of birds or insects making a sort of clacking sound (I imagined a bunch of tiny crabs in the trees clacking their pincers together, it's the best analogy I could come up with to describe the sound) that was entertaining. Secondly, I'm glad we went the other route because there were hardly any folks on that part of the trail, and when we got back to the parking lot it was overflowing with cars and people, meaning the main path would've been a clogged nightmare. Thank goodness the robins outside my window woke me up a little earlier than I originally planned this morning so I could get out and enjoy nature before being bogged down by other nature-seeking people.
Happy Memorial Day everyone.
An entertaining heron to watch—known for sprinting, jumping, and spinning around in shallow water with its wings held up. Dark morph is more common than white morph. Adults are dark gray with a rusty head and neck. Immatures are paler grayish and rusty overall. In breeding plumage, the pink bill and blue lores can become shockingly bright. White morphs are similar to other egrets, but note behavior, grayish legs, and pink bill base (adults). Found exclusively near the coast, especially on mudflats. Typically uncommon, usually seen singly or in scattered small numbers. Dark morph most easily confused with Little Blue Heron, but Reddish Egret is larger and forages much more actively. (eBird)

An unusual visitor to Costa Rica, this young egret had found the perfect wintering waters for his stay. I noticed him standing on the log and thought that the colouring was "off" for either a Great Blue or a Little Blue Heron. Turned out it was the bird we were looking for.

I'm hosting a table at a women's event at our church, so I laid everything out on our dining table today to make sure everything would look okay. I made and strung red paper flowers on some branches -- I learned how to make these flowers from a Martha Stewart magazine about 10 years ago. Yes. 10!
Experimenting with Luminar 4, adding some fireworks to an old image of our wonderful Story Bridge, I realised when I looked at the finished product that I had filled the sky with enormous microscope images of the coronavirus! Yikes!
Entertaining watching the juveniles chasing an adult through the woods round and round the trees for a while this morning. Flycatcher training day :-)

Full album: Lytham 1940s Weekend (August 2024)
The Lytham 1940s Wartime Weekend took place between Saturday, August 17 and Sunday, August 18, 2024.
The two day spectacle saw thousands of people re-live the 1940s wartime era with a weekend of forties singing, dancing, weapons displays, historic vehicles, military charities, vintage traders and more.
When you can find a hungry Tri-colored Heron that is more concerned with finding that next tender tasty morsel and less concerned with your presence, it can be a very rewarding and entertaining experience as well. This particular Tri-colored Heron used this low crouching stance to pursue its prey on Horsepen Bayou. The water was 6 or 8 inches deep, and it would constantly stalk its prey while creeping through the water while crouched low in this stance. An added benefit to the encounter was that is was dressed in its finest breeding plumage. The blue lores and red eye are always evident during mating season. I should have said that they are almost as entertaining as a Green Heron and can get into a real frenzy at times. Tri-colored Heron foraging on Horsepen Bayou.

Lost a Peanut Skippy spends time scratching around this tree, it looks like he is looking for something, or just entertaining himself, shot in North Carolina.

When the tides are low and they don’t have to dangle from a limb to catch their prey, the Tri-colored Heron can be very entertaining while stalking the shallow waters of the bayou. Some of them will disregard your presence and walk right up to the canoe while they are hunting. Photo taken on Horsepen Bayou.

Saturday morning while I was having breakfast, there was a gentle scratch on my door. I opened the door and there stood Miep, my landlord's little rat terrier. She invited herself in and we had a perfectly lovely visit! Blanca was on her best behavior and played very gently without frightening our little guest. :)
I'm sorry to have been away so long, hope to get back on track very soon!
Thank you all for the kind comments and notes and I wish everyone a healthy, safe and prosperous New Year
Much Love

Bolsover Castle is located in the market town of Bolsover, in the English county of Derbyshire. Built in the early 17th century, the castle sits on the earthworks and ruins of a 12th century medieval castle, the present structure was begun between 1612 and 1617 by Sir Charles Cavendish. The building work was continued by Charles two sons, William and John, who were influenced by the Italian-inspired work of the architect Inigo Jones. The tower, known today as the 'Little Castle', was completed around 1621.
William Cavendish, who was created Marquess of Newcastle in 1643 and Duke of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1665, added a new hall and staterooms to the Terrace Range, these are now in ruins.
The castle was specifically designed and built as a lavish retreat for entertaining influential guests, it was known for its lavish banquets, entertainment, and overall atmosphere of celebration and revelry.
The site is now in the care of the English Heritage, and is both a Grade I listed building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
Canada goose chasing another that got too close to its mate provided some free entertainment for a young lady on one of the benches along the dam. Shot from across the lake.
Took a very short walk after the sun came out. Felt good to be outside after the loss of my brother a week and a half ago and a lot of cool, cloudy or rainy days since. Even with the stay at home order in place we are allowed to visit park trails if we maintain social distancing.
