The Entertainer punched metal disks that play classics, old tec but effective and pleasant, found in North Carolina.
Playing on a street in a prosperous Los Angeles suburb which used to be a tourist attraction. Now lined with locked down doors and for lease and for sale signs. He played very well but had few listeners. youtu.be/g8syRhvSZdk
On a visit to Winchester we saw this street artist drawing a crowd ever tighter around him. We stopped to watch.
I imagined he was a fire eater but his lead-up, to whatever act, was tantalizing to say the least and I felt the air of menace. 👿
The apparent obliviousness of some passers-by amused me.
In the end we just moved off but by then I had too many images captured on burst.....🔥🔥🔥
posted for Sliders Sunday
Have a good Sunday yourselves!
I had to pop down to the beach yesterday afternoon after a dreary wet morning, to get some sea air. I was quite surprised there was a good sea running, so even though it was high tide there was a really good atmosphere, lots of crashing waves and sea spray. Needless to say I got quite wet with a few bigger waves. It wa great entertainment, and all finished with a bit of colour in the sky. Sorry Entertainer is by Daniel Johnston. I'm off early morning volunteering today, it's great to actually talk to people in these crazy days.
Street entertainer.

The entertainer. My restoration and colorization of photographer Robert Mushet´s original 1921 image in the Library of Congress archive. The lady was an entertainer at the Butler Cafe Revue, Seattle.
"Located in Seattle's Hotel Butler, the Butler Cafe was much more than a small cafe, with a seating capacity of 500. A 1922 advertisement enthused, "With its big musical review, with clever performers, beautifully costumed, and with Tiny Burnett's wonderful dance orchestra, The Butler's dinner and supper dansants are the social events of the city."

Nope. I couldn't live in a city. Do cities attract weird people or make them appear weird to 'normal' people visiting from the countryside? Or is it me that is weird? Either way I prefer somewhere quieter and less complicated. I like natural beauty and tranquillity.
Life in the city may seem one mad rush but actually this man is stood utterly and totally, frozen still. He's one of those people who stands statue still until you give him some money. I have to say he was marvellously convincing. It can't be easy to hold this position totally still for hours on end.
