Esta especie tan apreciada por los recolectores vascos y navarros presenta un sombrero carnoso de 4 a 15 cm de diámetro de color blanco o crema y superficie lisa y mate. El margen está muy enrollado cuando es joven; más tarde se abre. Las láminas son apretadas, estrechas y escotadas, blancas. Pie robusto y del color de las láminas. La carne es compacta con un cierto aroma harinoso. Esporada blanca.

Los primeros perretxikos brotan hacia el día de San José (19 de marzo), en los lugares más soleados y resguardados de los últimos fríos invernales. Es muy común verlos salir en canteras calizas con exposición sur, al abrigo del calor acumulado por las piedras.

 

A últimos de marzo, primeros de abril empiezan a brotar de forma más copiosa hasta primeros de junio e incluso julio en los parajes de mayor altitud (puertos de montaña) y en las zonas que se encharcan con gran facilidad. "El perretxiko de mayo pa mi amo y el de junio pa ninguno".

 

En los otoños templados, incluso en Navidad, nacen perretxikos en las zonas más resguardadas. En esta época los perretxikales fructifican una sola vez pero como muchos recolectores desconocen este hecho, se recogen producciones que en muchos perretxikales superan los rendimientos primaverales.

Built in 1866 it was originally the entrance to a large building called the Pensioner Barracks.

 

The Barracks was built to house the Enrolled Pensioner Force (also known as ‘Pensioner Guards’). The guards came to Australia on the convict ships that transported nearly 10,000 prisoners to Western Australia between 1850 – 1868.

George Henry Berry enrolled with the Durham Light Infantry 2nd Battalion in WW1

Very sadly George lost his life barely two months after landing in France, having sustained a head injury, whilst in the trenches. Only 34yrs of age George left a wife and four young children.

George is my hubby's Great Grandfather.

This tin was passed onto me some years ago, when I was researching my hubby's side of the family. It's a chocolate box, given to the troops. It contained these medals, although I'm not entirely sure if those at the bottom were George's.

For the family, like many other's, it was a very traumatic time.

George's younger brother enrolled secretly under a different name, as he was underage, into the Gordon Highlanders.

Having been brought home, he was stationed in Scotland and returned to the war field a year later. He too sadly lost his life, at the tender age of 19yrs

China plans to order most foreign students to leave Beijing before the Olympic Games in August, strictly regulate the issuing of business and tourist visas, and deport refugees, sources said yesterday.

 

“Even if you have to continue your studies in September, you need to leave Beijing in July and August,” a spokeswoman for Beijing University said.

 

The university is one of China’s most prestigious colleges and enrolls hundreds of foreign students annually on Chinese-language and other courses.

 

The spokeswoman from Beijing University’s international cooperation department said the two-month gap applies to all universities in Beijing and was ordered by “higher authorities” because of the Olympics.

 

She said all short-term summer courses for foreigners had been canceled this year.

 

One Western education official estimated that at least 10,000 students could be affected by the order if it applied to the whole country, though some universities outside Beijing said they were unaware of the rule.

 

The head of the German academic exchange, the DAAD, said a ban on foreign students during the Olympics was not mentioned in recent meetings with officials.

 

An administrator of dormitories for foreigners at Tongji University in Shanghai said her department had received no notice banning students during the Olympics.

 

But a woman who assists foreign students in China said at least two universities outside Beijing, Anhui Normal University and Heilongjiang University, had stopped recruiting foreign students for courses running beyond July.

 

She said she believed any students with visas until the end of this year would be allowed to stay in Beijing, but she added that most student visas would expire in June before the universities’ normal summer vacation.

 

A foreign ministry official said he was unaware of any ban on students but the normal education of foreign students “will be guaranteed.”

 

The official China Daily said about 190,000 foreign students from 188 nations attended courses in China last year.

 

Asked for comment last night, Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council Vice Chairman Liu Teh-hsun (劉德勳) said he was unaware of the developments, but that the council would monitor the situation.

 

China has already severely restricted the issuing of short-term and multi-entry business visas, prompting complaints from business groups and diplomats.

 

Some Beijing-based businesses said they may be unable to fill vacancies until after the Olympics because of the new restrictions.

 

“You can be sure that all countries affected will raise the issue with the Chinese side very intensively,” one informed source said of the restrictions on business visas.

 

“It clearly has to do with the Olympics,” the source said.

 

China appears to have acted partly in response to recent reports that police uncovered at least two terrorist plots targeting the Olympics, the source said, adding that other nations had taken similar security measures in the past.

 

China’s Foreign Ministry yesterday defended the move and said visas were issued “according to law.”

 

“I believe it will have no influence on normal business activities in China,” ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu (姜瑜) said.

 

But Joerg Wuttke, president of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China, yesterday criticized China for limiting business visas issued in Hong Kong.

 

Wuttke called the restrictions “truly annoying” and charged that the new visa rules were unclear and had never been published.

 

The new measures, which an informed source said were temporary, require non-permanent Hong Kong residents to apply for visas in their home countries.

 

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) also said it was concerned about the deportation of vulnerable refugees from China before the Olympics.

 

In a statement posted on its Web site, UNHCR highlighted the case of a 17-year-old unaccompanied refugee who was returned to his country of origin after being taken from his home in Beijing on April 3.

 

UNHCR spokeswoman Jennifer Pagonis said that some of the deportations among the 180 refugees recorded by UNHCR in China “may well constitute a violation” of the 1951 Refugee Convention.

Situated in the City Of Westminster, the Park spans twenty three Hectares and is the oldest of the Royal Parks of London, with a variety of visiting and nesting birds that include Ducks, Canada Geese and Pelicans.

  

Here we see a beautiful adult female Ardea Cinerea (Grey Heron) relaxing on one leg in the sun beside the lake in St James's Park. These birds are native to Europe and Asia as well as parts of Africa, with a wingspan up to Two metres and a mass of up to 2.1kgs.

Photograph taken at an altitude of One hundred and thirteen metres at 11:35am on Thursday 8th November 2018, off Biskupstungnabraut 35 and Haukadalsvegur F333 at Gesir, a geothermal location where a geyser erupts every eight to ten minutes. The location is in an area formerly known as Hverasandar at the northern edge of the southern lowlands in Haukadalur, Iceland.

  

The geothermal field has a surface area of around 3 km² and the former spouting Geyser here, named Hvitamelur is dry. To the south are two small spouting Geysers known as Marteinslaug and Gufubadshver, and the current oldest spouting Geyser Northernmost is Geysir itself.

I was originally enrolled into the GETTY IMAGES collection as a contributor on April 9th 2012, and when links with FLICKR were terminated in March 2014, I was retained and fortunate enough to be signed up via a second contract, both of which have proved to be successful with sales of my photographs all over the world now handled exclusively by them.

    

On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being officially rolled out in December. ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015 and has smoothed out the upload process considerably.

  

These days I take a far more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, a Nikon D850 FX Pro body as my trusted companion, I travel light with less constraints and more emphasis on the pure capture of the beauty that I see, more akin to my original persuits and goals some five decades previously when starting out. Photograph taken at an altitude of One hundred and forty seven metres at 15:39pm on Thursday 8th November 2018, off Þingvallavegur 36 in the Þingvellir National Park (Thingvellir National Park) in Iceland. Situated East of Reykjavik, this is the location where the Alþing (Althing) parliamentary general assembly met between 930 CE and 1798. It has been home to a church for over One thousand years.

The park sits in a rift valley caused by the separation of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates with cliffs and fissures such as the Almannagjá fault.

  

Here we are looking over a body of water known as Þingvallavatn (Þingvallavatn lake). The lake has a surface area of 84 km² and a depth of 114m and lies partially with the national park.The only outflow from lake Þingvallavatn is the river Sog.

Photograph taken at an altitude of One hundred twenty five metres at 11:52:32am on Thursday 8th November 2018, off Biskupstungnabraut 35 and Haukadalsvegur F333 at Gesir, a geothermal location where a geyser erupts every eight to ten minutes. The location is at Hafnartún, Selfoss, Iceland.

  

This is the main Geyser in the field which erupts approximately every six to ten minutes or so. This series of 9 photographs captures the split second (actually 0.03 of a second)that it takes for the Geyser to erupt and subside. The water is sucked slighlty back down into the ground before suddenly climbing back out under pressure and then exploding into the sky.

Situated in the City Of Westminster, the Park spans twenty three Hectares and is the oldest of the Royal Parks of London, with a variety of visiting and nesting birds that include Ducks, Canada Geese and Pelicans.

  

Here we see two very common and beautiful members of our native Beed family, the biggest being Bombus Terrestris or Buff-tailed Bumblebee, the largest of the UK's native Bees and the first to emerge each year. The smaller of the two is Apis mellifera (Honey bee).

On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being officially rolled out in December. ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015 and has smoothed out the upload process considerably.

  

These days I take a far more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, a Nikon D850 FX Pro body as my trusted companion, I travel light with less constraints and more emphasis on the pure capture of the beauty that I see, more akin to my original persuits and goals some five decades previously when starting out. The Champ de Mars (Field of Mars), is a large park located in the Seventh arrondissement between the Eiffel Tower to the Northwest and Ecole Militaire to the Southeast. It was named after Campus Martius in Rome, Italy. It originally measured 42 hectares, but was reduced by architect Jeran-Camille Fromige for the 1890 World Exposition.

Here, we are looking over towards Mt Baker in Washington State, USA from beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Also known as Koma Kulshan, (pronounced kō-ō’mah’ kool-shän’),she is an active glaciated andesitic stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the North Cascades of Washington State in the United States, standing 3,286 metres tall and was first ascended in 1868, her last eruption recorded in 1880.

  

The name Mount Baker first appeared in print in Captain Vancouver’s 1798 narrative of his voyage around Vancouver Island. Legend has it that his third-lieutenant, Joseph Baker, was the first to spot the mountain while they sailed into Dungeness Bay on April 30th, 1792. Also known by the Lummi as Kwud-Shad, and Koba (meaning 'high mountain always covered with snow', was the Skagit name.

Photograph taken at an altitude of One hundred twenty five metres at 11:52:32am on Thursday 8th November 2018, off Biskupstungnabraut 35 and Haukadalsvegur F333 at Gesir, a geothermal location where a geyser erupts every eight to ten minutes. The location is at Hafnartún, Selfoss, Iceland.

  

This is the main Geyser in the field which erupts approximately every six to ten minutes or so. This series of 9 photographs captures the split second (actually 0.03 of a second)that it takes for the Geyser to erupt and subside. The water is sucked slighlty back down into the ground before suddenly climbing back out under pressure and then exploding into the sky.

I was originally enrolled into the GETTY IMAGES collection as a contributor on April 9th 2012, and when links with FLICKR were terminated in March 2014, I was retained and fortunate enough to be signed up via a second contract, both of which have proved to be successful with sales of my photographs all over the world now handled exclusively by them.

    

On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being officially rolled out in December. ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015 and has smoothed out the upload process considerably.

  

These days I take a far more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, a Nikon D850 FX Pro body as my trusted companion, I travel light with less constraints and more emphasis on the pure capture of the beauty that I see, more akin to my original persuits and goals some five decades previously when starting out. I would like to say a huge and heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to GETTY IMAGES, and the 32.927+ Million visitors to my FLICKR site.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Eleven metres, at 10:31am on Tuesday June 4th 2019, on a an overcast and drizzle filled morning off Birdcage Walk and Horse Guards Road in the grounds of St James's Park. Situated in the City Of Westminster, the Park spans twenty three Hectares and is the oldest of the Royal Parks of London, with a variety of visiting and nesting birds that include Ducks, Canada Geese and Pelicans.

  

Here we see a beautiful and amazingly friendly Rock Dove (Columba Livia), a relative of the trown and feral pigeon, identified by it's ash grey wings with black bands. Interbreeding with Stock and Rock Doves and feral pigeons is commonplace, thus wild rock doves in the purest form are now rare.

The parkland dates back to Norman times and was purchased by the Tournay family in the Fifteenth Century. William Tournay is was the first family member to have the grounds and lake sculpted, and after his death in 1903, the land was purchased by Kent County Council, and opened to the public in 1947.

After he graduated from high school, he enrolled in the University of Puerto Rico where he studied journalism and sociology. He worked for the United States Postal Service, a job which he held for more than twenty years. All the while he continued to compose songs. In 1960 he moved to New York City and worked for the newspaper "Diario/La Prensa" as a sports columnist. In 1965, Alonso met salsa singer Joe Quijano who recorded Alonso's Efectivamente which became a hit. Alonso developed a unique style of his own which is known as "salsa with a conscience". He wrote songs about social and romantic themes which told about the poor blacks and the hardships that they faced. He also focused many of his songs on what he called the beauty of the black Caribbeans.

Throughout his life, Alonso composed over two thousand songs. Arguably, about 200 of these were hit songs, and about 50 of these were major salsa hits. Some of the people who have intrepeted his songs are: Joe Quijano, Iris Chacón, Wilkins, Cheo Feliciano, Celia Cruz, La Lupe, Willie Colón, Tito Rodríguez, Olga Guillot, Mon Rivera, Héctor Lavoe, Ray Barretto, Tony Croatto, Rubén Blades, Tito Puente, Ismael Miranda, Roberto Roena, Bobby Valentín, Marvin Santiago, Willie Rosario, Chucho Avellanet, Andy Montañez, Rafael Cortijo, Tommy Olivencia and Frankie Ruiz. She’s one of three Colorado high school students — and 161 high school seniors nationwide — recognized as Presidential Scholars for their accomplishments in academics, the arts and career and technical education. She was also one of only twenty arts scholars named this year.

pero me encanto ese detalle de la trompa que pude ver como se enrollaba lentamente y dispare el obturador en el momento de mayor estetica..justo empezaba el vuelo al disparar de ahi el desenfoque.

St Stephen's College (聖士提反書院) is a Christian Direct Subsidy Scheme co-educational secondary school in Stanley, Hong Kong. With an area of about 150,000 m2 (15 hectares), the college is the largest secondary school in Hong Kong, and is one of the very few boarding schools in the territory. Many buildings in the campus are listed in the list of historic Buildings and Declared Monuments by the Antiquities Advisory Board. When the college was founded in 1903, there were only six boarders and one day student; in the academic year 2014–2015, there were approximately 910 students studying in the college. St Stephen's College uses English as the medium of instruction except for Chinese-based subjects. St Stephen's College is the first school in the territory having its own Heritage Trail in the school campus. The college's oldest building, the School House, was declared a monument in 2011, being one of the few schools in Hong Kong to own a Declared Monument in its campus.

 

The establishment of the college dates back to 1901. A group of prominent Chinese businessmen approached the Church Missionary Society to administer a school for their sons. The inspiration came from Sun Yat-sen. The aim was to achieve a standard of teaching and level of equipment comparable to the best public schools in England. In 1903, St Stephen's College was officially established on Bonham Road in Western District. In the 1920s, the government granted the school 37 acres (150,000 m2) on the Stanley Peninsula in recognition of outstanding contributions to education. The foundation stone was laid in April 1928 by the Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Cecil Clementi, and in May 1929, the college was fully functional in its new buildings, many of which are still in use today.

 

During the Battle of Hong Kong in the Second World War, heavy fighting took place around the college, which was among the last British strongholds to surrender to the Imperial Japanese Army. Shortly after the surrender, the Imperial Japanese Army broke into the college (which served as a military hospital during the battle) and murdered wounded soldiers of the Allied forces, in what would be known as the St. Stephen's College massacre. The Japanese later merged the college with part of Stanley Prison to form the Stanley Internment Camp.

 

The college reopened after the war and a chapel was built in 1950 to remember those who died during the Japanese occupation.

 

Originally a private school, St Stephen's College became a government-funded public school during the late 1900s. Since the 2008–2009 academic year, the college has become a Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) school 直接資助計劃, which is a historic change to the college as it freed the school from the centralised funding system that currently administers secondary education in Hong Kong. Students enrolled in the 2002 Primary 1 class at St Stephen's College Preparatory School, also based in Stanley, were the first group of students to enter the DSS system. In order to upgrade the school administrative level, this is the first secondary school in Hong Kong to employ a registered professional housing manager on its staff to manage and handle all property and facilities-related issues for and on behalf of the school.

Os habéis fijado como recorta en silueta. Que si que si, seguro que alguno se fijó en el detalle del encuadre, un encuadre nada premeditado y eso...pero claro, al final uno ve sorpresas o las sorpresas le ven a el según la teoría de la relatividad esa. El caso es que esta foto es la historia de un "acechamiento" del que fui objeto, hasta suena inquietante y todo pero no...o no lo creo. Bueno volviendo al principio: El caso es que ayer me dio por hacer unas llamadas aprovechando que era viernes y tenia libre la tarde lo que me permitió juntarme con el Gran maestro Agustín y como no, con un canónigo!! (rafa ya sabes por quien va) para pasar un rato bien entretenido con trenes, compañeros y risas bajo un Sol impecable. Lo primero nos puteo bastante al haber suprimido un par de mercantes pero aun así nos dio tiempo para salirnos hasta del país aterrizando con la pericia al volante de rafa en Valença para un rato mas tarde volver hasta Redondela y Cesantes donde en esta foto me dio por innovar con lo que sería un 599 al uso pero por sorpresa apareció este pequeño haciendo el Interurbano (un cercanías a la gallega) lo curioso del caso es que el martes ya pillé un hermano de esta y ayer lo vi tres veces en una tarde, dos de ellas con foto. Se ve que de la primera como tuve la suerte y desgracia (que calor hacia!) de ser su viajero hasta Redondela se debió de enamorar con esa pasión tan mecánica y caliente de un día de Mayo a 20 grados (si, para nosotros ya es calor) del pobre de mi, o afortunado porque la tarde de ayer se acabo redondeando con este bichejo.

Bueno que me enrollo, quiero dedicar esta foto a los compañeros de excursión en especial a ese canónigo, por una vez fuimos mayoría en el coche.

I was originally enrolled into the GETTY IMAGES collection as a contributor on April 9th 2012, and when links with FLICKR were terminated in March 2014, I was retained and fortunate enough to be signed up via a second contract, both of which have proved to be successful with sales of my photographs all over the world now handled exclusively by them.

    

On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being officially rolled out in December. ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015 and has smoothed out the upload process considerably.

  

These days I take a far more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, a Nikon D850 FX Pro body as my trusted companion, I travel light with less constraints and more emphasis on the pure capture of the beauty that I see, more akin to my original persuits and goals some five decades previously when starting out. I would like to say a huge and heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to GETTY IMAGES, and the 32.403+ Million visitors to my FLICKR site.

This is my 137th photograph to be selected, which for me is both amazing and exciting, as I never view my images as worthy compared to some of the awesome photography out there. EXPLORE is Flickr's way of showcasing the most interesting photos within a given point in time -- usually over a 24 hour period.

 

Flickr receives about 6,000 uploads every minute -- That's about 8.6 million photos a day! From this huge group of images, the Flickr Interestingness algorithm chooses only 500 images to showcase for each 24-hour period. That's only one image in every 17,000!..... so I am really thrilled to have a frame picked and most grateful to every one of the 32.435+ Million people who have visited, favourite and commented on this and all of my other photographs here on my FLICKR site. *****

Photograph taken at an altitude of Ten metres at 12:37pm on Friday 9th November 2018, off Reynishverfisegur 215 and bjodvegur on the south coast of Iceland, in the fishing village of Vík í Mýrdal, the southernmost village in Iceland. With a population of just Two hundred and ninety one, it is an important service centre catering for the coastal strip between Skógar and the west edge of the Mýrdalssandur glacial outwash plain.

  

Reyniskirkja Church belongs to the Vik benefice in the Skaftafell Deanery, and was built in 1929 with the parsoange moved there in 1932.

L'escala enrotllada a una de les columnes, està adornada amb figures en relleu estucades en pols d'alabastre, representant passatges de l'antic i nou testament. Aquesta escala està realitzada pels escultors, l'un morellà Antoni Sancho i l'altre italià Juseph Belli, entre 1426 i 1476.

Obra de Sancho és el naixement de Crist, on poden admirar-indumentàries típiques i usos gastronòmics de la zona, com la presència d'un pastor treballant amb un morter.

La escalera enrollada a una de las columnas, está adornada con figuras en relieve estucadas en polvo de alabastro, representando pasajes del antiguo y nuevo testamento. Esta escalera está realizada por los escultores, el uno morellano Antoni Sancho y el otro italiano Juseph Belli, entre 1426 y 1476.

Obra de Sancho es el nacimiento de Cristo, donde pueden admirarse indumentarias típicas y usos gastrónomicos de la zona, como la presencia de un pastor trabajando con un mortero.
