Many members of the Military branches showed up at Times Square in New York City as many of the local restaurants in the area were offering free dinners to veterans and as well to Ex- Veterans on Veterans Day.

Enlisted in the USMC earlier this week, about a year from now I'll be headed for MCRD Parris Island!
Northern France in the centenary year of WW1 or "La Grande Guerre" "The Great War" This was a war to end all wars....it didn't.....
I have visited many military grave sites in France, ALL of which are kept in in a very respectable and honorable condition. While most are easily recognizable I found this German military cemetery hidden in a small little valley at "Moulin sous Touvent" This area was on the front line for most of the war.
In this image I've merged the Cemetery register with an image from their final resting place, far from their homes, these men, forever young.
There are 1,903 buried here with only six unknown graves.....

One of dozens of enlisted barracks at the abandoned WWII Army Air Corps base in Wendover, Tooele County, Utah. This is the base where the Atomic Bomb used in WWll was assembled and the crew of the Enola Gay practiced dropping the bomb before going to Tinian.

Enlisted my engineer husband to help me, he knew how to wind the tetherball (with a headlamp attached to the ball) so that it unwound perfectly even. Practice, practice, practice, i can see how the light painting can become addicting once you figure out how to do it :)

Enlisted in the Rhimhölde Quadrant, this mobile weapon is quick to deploy and highly maneuverable in the field. Communications and radar devices are securly mounted underneath the armored carapace and 360° turret areas to safeguard against stray enemy fire. Power is supplied by three Brahm-Nucleo Regenerators, one for the main drive train, and two to power the main weapon, providing a continous and uninterrupted stream of burning plasma up to 200 yards with up to 70° of arc. During the Crystasis Wars, Yeltvek troops were often seen retreating when only two or three of these vehicles began a forward offensive.

This photograph was taken by an unknown photographer a few years after the Civil War from approximately this location. The two adobe enlisted men's quarters are seen to the right and left. Fort Craig was built as a two-company post, with matching company and officers' quarters, but it was reinforced during the Civil War, and an additional wooden barracks was built between the adobe buildings. The vertical log, palisade construction can be seen in the center of the photograph. Note the covered gun at the right, near the foot of the flagpole, for ceremonial firings. Small cottonwood trees were planted, but did not fare well. Gravel paths were built and post orders
occasionally reminded soldiers to use them.

The 253rd elite legion is a RPG build group, based in the Clone Wars, that has been active for over two years. However, the group has almost 50 members, but with only about 12 active people! We really need more members!
How to join us? Here is a quick guide:
Create a 16x16 studs build, with at least one clone trooper and add there as many details and creativity as you can. It took a worthwhile hour to reach this place. Then I faced a dark walk back through unfamiliar wooded paths. All just to get up for when the sun returned the next morning. Lessons learnt - always take a camera and don't go somehwere unfamiliar when it's getting dark, even if it is to make it more familiar in the next light.
Enlisted barracks. The fire damage was caused by the local Fire Department which used the barracks for training purposes, including putting out fires.
As of Tuesday, I am an official member of the US Marine Corps! I ship out to boot camp (Parris Island) on 8-10-15. No promises, but I might have time to post a last MOC for a loong time over Christmas break.

Stephen Chase Gates is representative of the hundreds of thousands of patriotic young citizens who enlisted in the national army in 1861 and served without fanfare in the ranks until 1865. His record is remarkable for its consistency. A native of Schenectady, N.Y., he enlisted as a private in the Empire State's 77th Infantry in October 1861 and remained in uniform until the regiment mustered out in June 1865. He was rarely absent from his Company C. The 77th participated in all the major campaigns with the Army of the Potomac, as well as the 1864 battles in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley.
Gates survived his military service, but barely outlived the war. He died in 1869 in Sacramento, Calif., at age 26. Details of his cause of his death and journey to California and currently lost in time.
He is posed here about the time of his enlistment wearing a greatcoat and private purchase boots.

Lebensraum farm, Ostland, 1960.
An E79 rolls down a country road, informing selected members of Wehrbauer communities in the East that they have been chosen for foreign deployment. The harvest is upon them, and the Wehrbauers work to feed their nation and their families.
This MOC shows what I think part of a farm built in the desired Lebensraum may have looked like. We always hear about what the Nazis wanted to do and how they planed to do it, but I wanted to explore that aesthetic and the world that could have been. This is another explanation of alternate history.
The Lebensraum farm is supposed to be in conquered land not too far east of East Prussia. The world is close to what Hitler envisioned- all of Europe has either been conquered, is a puppet state, or is a close ally. Crops grown in Eastern Germany-proper (now expanding all the way to present day central Poland and East Prussia as it was know) and the Eastern German territories (where this farm is) feed the massive German war machine. Germany still fights in Africa, the middle east, North America and parts of Asia. These settlements are home to the Wehrbauers, as I have called them. Wehrbauer was a term from the middle ages referring to peasant soldiers. In this case, they are not so much peasants as just farmers. They are armed to defend The eastern provinces from raids or attack by the peoples of Asia and the east.
I did quite a bit of research thinking about this, and I will put some links in here in case anyone wants to learn a little about this topic.
This is strictly non political. I am fascinated by the German culture the Nazis praised and tried to implement of their own, mostly because I am quite fond of classicism. I find Nazi weapons, vehicles, uniforms, architecture, and art to be beautiful. What I do not agree with is mass genocide. Conquest and cultural change is one thing, but I do not support in any way the Shoa. Please keep that in mind before you say anything stupid.

Heritage Grove Redwood Preserve is a magnificent 37-acre "old-growth" Redwood forest near the small northern California community of La Honda in the Santa Cruz Mountains. These ancient trees, some as old as 1000 years, were spared from loggers due to the determination of one woman, Grace Anne Mitchell Radwell (1922-2002), who early in the 1970's formed a citizens group and enlisted the support of 26 environmental organizations to stop the destruction. The aroused citizenry raised $80,000 in donations and, along with a grant from the San Mateo Board of Supervisors, were able to acquire the land from the Holmes Lumber Co. and designate it as a county park on July 25, 1974.

Carte de visite by an unidentified photographer. In 1863, a U.S. Naval Academy vessel on its annual summer cruise visited the British ports of Plymouth and Portsmouth. American officers came away impressed with the British apprentice system to bring boys into the ranks and train them for future military careers. Once back in the States, the Academy embarked on a similar system. In August 1864, the 52-gun frigate Sabine was designated as the school ship for apprentices.
One of the original apprentices assigned to the Sabine is the 15-year-old lad pictured here: Henry Titus Monahan. He had joined the navy a month earlier when he enlisted in Philadelphia as a Boy, a now obsolete rank. You can see the name Sabine on his cap, and glimpse his front teeth inside his partly opened mouth.
Over the next year, while Monahan learned the naval arts, the war ended and a new era of peace dawned. But the need for able-bodied naval officers remained. In July 1865, five boys from the Sabine proved their mettle and received orders to be examined for midshipmen—the officers' track at the Academy.
One of the boys so honored was Monahan. He went on to pass his examination, graduate from the Academy, and advance to master in 1873 and lieutenant in 1877.
Any ambitions for higher rank were cut short when he fell ill with consumption and died in January 1890 at age 40. His wife, Jennie, who he married in 1879, survived him.
