Fridays for Future am 22. Juni an der Grube und auf dem Weg zur Abschlusskundgebung in Keyenberg, eines von noch sechs von der Abbaggerung bedrohten Dörfern. Mit dabei der Goldene Finger von Ende Gelände, der dann vorher links in die Grube abgebogen war.

Als Teil der Klimabewegung trafen knapp 100 Jugendliche vom 24. Bis 26. April im BUNDjugend Camp im rheinischen Braunkohle-Revier zusammen. Der Höhepunkt des Aktionswochenendes war die Anti-Kohl-Kette am Samstag, bei der 6000 Teilnehmer*innen aus ganz Deutschland, aus Polen, Belgien, den Niederlanden, Luxemburg, Norwegen und weiteren Ländern eine geschlossene 7,5 Kilometer lange Menschenkette bildeten. Mit dieser symbolischen Grenze forderten die Demonstrant*innen den schrittweisen und sozialverträglichen Ausstieg aus der Kohle, um das nationale Klimaziel von mindestens 40 Prozent weniger CO2 bis 2020 zu erreichen.
