Enamelled-back Spider (Araneidae Plebs bradleyi) female
For Macro Mondays - Phobia
Many people, my wife and children included suffer from Arachnophobia.
This one has a body length of around around 15 mm (6/10 of an inch)
Happy Macro Monday!
Meravigliosa creatura - Gianna Nannini
Elythranthera brunonis is a perennial herb, 150-300 mm high with hairy leaf and flowering stem. The leaf is basal, an elongate oval shape and 20-80 long x 4-10 mm wide. There are 1-4 flowers 20-35 mm in diameter. The petals and lateral sepals are purple to mauve and glossy on the upper surface and white with purple or maroon spots on the lower surface. The labellum is white and the outer third folds up and back. Grows in lateritic and sandy soils.
- a gift from Clare (but not made by her) who brought it back from a trip downtown to Glasgow with Ray when I stayed behind in her flat for a small siesta (I'm quite expert at such!)

Macro Mondays: ring
I have photographed the ring on one of my scarves....
Part of a necklace bought in Paris, in a very small shop, near Sacre Coeur many years ago. The only trinkets I normally buy on holiday is cheapish jewellery.
Macro Mondays theme - trinket. Cropped to fit the size.
2018 one photo each day
The weather was horrible the day after Christmas - cold and foggy - so I amused myself by picking up my camera. The buttons are faux guilloché enamel, but I thought they were pretty. They were made in the 1930s. The pocket-watch-shaped trinket box is from the 1950s, the postcards from the 1910s and the piece of linen underneath everything is present day. Nope, as hard as I try I can't make any connection between them. They just ended up together in front of me - briefly - on a dark December day. :)
Taken with Lensbaby Velvet 56.
I'm afraid I'm not feeling hugely inspired at the moment, so here's another button from my collection. It dates from the late 19th Century and it's quite large at 1½" across. The button is leaning against a (barely visible) vintage Sylko cotton reel and I added in a few of my trusty Hydrangea flowers for good measure.
A series of pictures showing some of these iconic signs of an earlier age. Many copies are obtainable, mostly "aged" with a slightly damaged and rusted appearance, but originals like the ones in this series are increasingly rare and increasingly valuable.
Some show ads for cigarettes, etc...these would certainly be banned today.
Macro Monday Jewelry
I made this copper enameled pin one summer when my parents let me take an art class at a local high school. I think I was about 12. I loved the class and everything we did in it. After I finished the 4 copper enameled projects, I never made another piece. Still one of my favorite pieces of jewelry!!!
Coming to the end of this series now...a couple more to go. They have been well received by my contacts, but not so by the general Flickr audience...which to be honest, is a pale shadow of what it once was. Still...we persevere.

I do love the sheer vibrancy and depth of colour that you get with vintage enamelware - there's nothing else quite like it. Simple vanilla cupcakes topped with chocolate icing are a delicious complement to a nice pot of coffee.
"Will not affect your throat...."
This one has certainly spent it's life indoors...not much damage, or weathering...a bullet hole, perhaps...
Detail of a 60's enamel tray. i thought the design would be fun to work in hand embroidery. feel free to use the pics for your own inspiration.
