When I was recovering from the worst of Covid, and reflecting on the way it had threatened my partner’s life, I was wondering how on earth I was going to put into words what I felt, poetically. For a while there nothing would come, but then as I was listening to the music of U2, and in this case, also watching the video with it, which has become a classic, I was filled with inspiration.
The image I was thinking of using matched the emotive feel of the song and film. I was so struck by it the words just flowed out. And this is the result.
The image was taken at Glynde Church, in East Sussex, UK. There was something about this image that suggested something was going on ‘off camera’ so to speak. Very emotive, as if some ‘people’ were going to appear in the image from the left side…..

This image is from a series of photographs that I took at Alfriston Church in Sussex, UK, on a cold, windy day in October. I have mentioned before that I felt an unease at this place, and I think the images are a reflection of that. I wondered if anything or anybody could truly be at rest here, as this feeling came from some disturbance older than the church, embedded in the landscape, it seemed to me.
The weather added to my unsettled feeling, the wind swirling around the church, which is positioned on older sacred ground. The landscape seemed to attract as well as repel.

I think this concludes my posting frenzy. ;) Sorry about that! I had several images that I wanted to post before November rolls around on Monday. Thank you so much for coming along on the ride with me. x
A Flickr friend commented that Olivia has amazingly graceful hands. As an accomplished dancer her hands act to convey emotion. When interviewing her for the modeling position, we discussed how dancers and photographic models both attempt to do the same thing.
Seeing this large increase the impact. Thank you.

It's that look you get when someone has no idea what you just said - - when they don’t understand the joke or you said something complicated about a subject they know nothing about.
But - it might be "Word salad" a medical and psychological term used to describe a jumble of words that are uttered in a haphazard, disorganised, and incoherent fashion. It lacks logical structure, grammatical cohesion, and meaningful context, making it impossible for a listener to follow the speaker's train of thought.
Potential Causes
Word salad is rarely an isolated phenomenon; it is typically a clinical indicator of an underlying issue affecting cognitive function or neurological pathways. Common causes include:
Schizophrenia: Often associated with the disorganised speech patterns seen in schizophrenia, where the brain struggles to filter thoughts or maintain coherent linguistic output.
Neurological Conditions: Damage to the brain, such as that caused by a stroke, traumatic brain injury, or brain tumours, can disrupt the regions responsible for language production and processing.
Neurodegenerative Diseases: Conditions like dementia or Alzheimer’s disease can cause a progressive breakdown in the ability to organise thoughts and find the appropriate words, eventually leading to incoherent speech.
Severe Mania: During a severe manic episode, a person’s thoughts may race so quickly that their speech becomes disconnected and fragmented, resulting in word salad.
Drug-Induced Delirium: Substance misuse or toxic reactions to certain medications can impair brain function, temporarily leading to disorganised and incoherent speech.
Severe Infections or Metabolic Disturbances: Serious systemic illnesses, such as high fevers or severe electrolyte imbalances, can cause delirium, which may present as incoherent or nonsensical speech.
