Found this rock while hiking about 1/2 mile south of Jumbo Rocks Campground in Joshua Tree. The pigment on the rock gives it the appearance of a smiley face!
I have driven by this wonderful barn in Whitney, Idaho many times without knowing this delightful face was there because it faces away from the road. The barn was on the news a few weeks ago and we went out to look for it today. The only way to see it is to take a dirt road to the Whitney cemetery.
The story we heard was the owner was very proud of his beautiful old barn, but when he went away on a short trip his kids repainted it. When he returned and saw this he was furious! But people visiting the cemetery noticed it and when the word got out about it he started to get lots of delighted compliments. So, he is even more proud of his barn now.
