Hunting with falcons was an important part of the history of the Arab Bedouins for a period of 10,000 years. Falconry is a Bedouin tradition and Arabic culture, today more as a hobby and for sporting purposes. The falcons enjoy a special status - they are a status symbol and heraldic animal, they live in the family house, are pampered and chauffeured to free flights in the desert in the morning and in the evening...

Since 2002 it has been forbidden to catch and keep hunting falcons in the wild, all animals are very valuable breeding animals - a falcon is worth on average €30,000.

There are a few small farms nestled at the feet of these amazing dunes, which we visited in search of birds. The main attraction though was the dunes themselves. Towering high above, sculptured by the winds, it seemed impossible that anything could live here, but judging by the tiny footprints we found, they do. This particular dune with the perfect point and knife sharp edges really attracted our attention.
