These are the connections among the Twitter users who recently tweeted the word pawcon when queried on March 5, 2012, scaled by numbers of followers (with outliers thresholded). Connections created when users reply, mention or follow one another. The data set starts on 2/27/2012 16:00 and ends on 3/5/2012 16:54 UTC. Green lines are "follows" relationships, blue lines are "reply" or "mentions" relationships.
Layout created with the "Group Layout" feature of NodeXL which tiles bounded regions for each cluster. The Harel-Koren layout algorithm positioned each vertex: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Force-based_algorithms_(graph_drawing).
Clusters calculated by the Clauset-Newman-Moore algorithm are also encoded by color. Clauset-Newman-Moore algorithm is defined here: pre.aps.org/abstract/PRE/v70/i6/e066111

After a heatwave, the fog rolls into San Francisco - impressive sight from my hotel and a welcome drop in temperature
At the direction of our fearless leader Jim Sterne I managed to get this cameraphone photo taken of me with Eric Peterson's ponytail. We are standing infront of the elevator at the eMetric Summit in Washington DC.
There were over 400 web analytics attendees after a photo of "The Ponytail" and Eric was a pretty good sport about the whole thing.
Hair must be an indicator of analytics prowess. You rock, Eric!

Opening the first full day of the show was Avinash Kaushik. He was inspiring, funny, and found a connection between Canada and goats that I've long known existed and only 14 other people knew about previously. (Long in-joke). I was laughing harder than most. Ah, goats.
An insightful and challenging keynote.

To go with the Baby Merry Janes for Sydney... coming along wonderfully! Most of it was knit during the eMetrics conference, between clapping and taking notes. Most excellent for a discussion type setting as it's two markers and straight knitting. No thinking required for long stretches of time, just the benefit of concentration and focus. I also learned, incidentally, that knitting "reverses" ADD. A welcome idea around here. ;)
