Elvis Aaron Presley was an American musician and actor. Regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as "the King of Rock and Roll"

DNA studies suggest that native American dogs entered North America from Siberia roughly 10,000 years ago, and were then isolated for some 9000 years until the arrival of the first Europeans; these pre-contact dogs exhibited a unique genetic signature that is now almost gone. A study based on sequencing of ancient dog genomes, published in 2020, suggests that this pre-colonial ancestry survives in two Mexican breeds, to the extent of about 4% in the Chihuahua (and some 3% in the Xoloitzcuintli).

Colonial records refer to small, nearly hairless dogs at the beginning of the nineteenth century; one claims that sixteenth-century conquistadores found them plentiful in the region later known as Chihuahua. In a letter written in 1520, Hernan Cortés wrote that the Aztecs raised and sold little dogs as food.

The American Kennel Club first registered a Chihuahua in 1904, Midget, owned by H. Raynor of Texas.

:-)

This is just not any duckling! I was stressed one night at the lake because of a nasty individual that I told off and sitting in my kayak contemplating assholes as the sun went down really bummed me out. It was time to leave and as I was heading for the dock I heard this peeping sound. Out of the reeds came this duckling towards my kayak and I thought,... is this for real? I put my hand down and it climbed aboard without any fear. I snuggled it against my cheek asking where its mommy was? It had to be only one day old. I kayaked through the reeds looking and no mommy could be found. I couldn't just leave it there for a blue heron to gulp down so I took him home and put him on a heating pad. The next morning we set out to find its family with no luck at all. I took him back to where I found him and he quickly started snapping up bugs in no time. It was so entertaining to watch. I left Elvis there reluctantly in front of my friend's cabin in the reeds (alerting them to my feathered friend) hoping his mom would return, but it never happened. Elvis came out of the reeds at 10:30 pm once again the next night looking for his same snug as a bug in a rug bed as the night before. It has become our ritual for a few nights now. He sings a song as sweet as Elvis Presley and I can't help but melt. Sometimes signs from heaven come to you when you need it most. Today my cabin friends saw the mother duck swim by with his siblings that were the same size and he reunited with his family. Happily ever after does happen sometimes. My goal is to always help wildlife when I can and keep them wild.
