the best thing about future history is you can make shit up now. besides, who knows what the perspective on current events will be once they've passed? i just thought i'd stir things up, what with 2012 looming and all...
Was working on making orbs last night and this fellow sort of came to life. Perhaps he'll be taking a few trips outside soon.
Please do not use my images on blogs, personal or professional websites, or any other digital media without my explicit permission. Thank you.
Made by Ideal in 1977. A sixteen inch tall action figure.
He has a light in his forehead for flashing at his nemesis Zogg.
He also has a feature of motion detection . That will set off the flash and a siren alarm.
None of these features seem to work on this figure.
It might just need the bulb replaced. If I could find one ?
I am not concerned about it. He is a big action figure.
He could go good against the 18 inch tall Kenner Alien .
His enemy Zogg is meant to be the play partner, of course,
Zogg is a Monster character. I like him too. And would get him
for the right price.
Electroman is just a classic Ideal character. I only remember seeing him in comic book adds back in the day. And I associate him with Ideal's STAR Team one and only comic book.
Electroman was the main add in the comic. I imagined him
as a member of the STAR Team.
So He will be a nice addition to the Ideal figures collection shelf :)
I guess it is likely Ideal was trying to cash in on some of the Six Million Dollar Man money Kenner had been making.
Mattel had Pulsar. Hasbro had the Atomic Man, Mike Powers.
Tomy had Mighty Max.
So the Six Million Dollar Man figure is 13 inches tall.
So Ideal must have thought bigger was better ?
At 16 inches tall. Electroman isn't bionic but he is electric ?
I would like to thank my brother Racso Bartra for letting me paint his face ha, modeling for me and letting my ideas push through. I've had them in my head for the past couple of weeks and I am glad to finally have one done !
Body for the boy he use to be, light green for the light he's barely seeing, black for the evil he needs to push aside.
The art looks like a seventh-rate imitation of a second-rate Jack Kirby imitation.

This Electroman is a Mego custom.
And my original STAR Team comic.
Both Electroman and STAR Team were produced by IDEAL.
Back in the day I loved and still love the STAR Team !
They were IDEAL's answer to Star Wars.
The Knight of Darkness has a Strong Darth Vader style.
Zem-21 is sort like C-3PO. The red and blue Zeroids with their
new for STAR Team round domes on top are the closest they could get to R2-D2.
I believe Lucas tried to sue IDEAL. But lost.
Because the Zeroids and Captain Action came out before
Star Wars. The Knight's body is a Captain Action body and boots with Flash Gordon's gun .
This little comic was the only information about the STAR Team. Other than any info on their packages.
The comic was a give away promotional item . In the toy aisle with the STAR Team toys I assume. I just remember I had it.
It has two full page adds for Electroman in it. Another IDEAL toy.
Since this is all there was about the STAR Team, I associated Electroman with the STAR Team. I assumed he was the human character that fought the Knight of darkness. Along with Zem-21 and the Zeroids. Like Flash Gordon or Luke Skywalker.
But I never saw him. And my Parents never bought him for me.
Then as an adult collector I have gotten an original Electroman. But he is 16 inches tall !
Which is an odd scale match. The Knight is 12 inches .
Zogg as a monster might be acceptable as a biggee.
So as an adult, I have dreamed of having 8 inch Mego customs of all these characters except the Zeroids.
Just to have them all on the same scale.
I have seen customs of the Knight and Zem-21. Once the smaller heads are obtained, the outfits I could put together.
But Electroman, no, too much for me to do there !
So I am very happy to get this great custom of him !
There is also the last STAR Team Member ; Kent and his Star Cruiser.
He is a human in a red body suit. He seems like he was the 2nd wave of offerings for STAR Team.
I never knew about him until adulthood.
He wasn't on the STAR Team packages. or even in this little comic. But Electroman was, even if only in the adds.
Yes, I would include Kent in the Mego customs for this line.
Just because he is part of the line. :)

El "electrogorrión" 3617-3618 está parado en la estación bilbaÃna de Concordia a puntito de salir hacia Balmaseda.
This is an 8 inch Mego custom of the much larger Ideal
Electroman !
I have an original Electroman. But I like 8 inch Mego versions
if it is possible to make or buy some of them. This is bought.
As I certainly can't make these printed outfits.
The original figure is 16 inches tall !
So he doesn't have many others in his scale. Except for Kenner Alien ? Who is only a little taller.
They even made an identical box like the original had.
And substituted this Mego version in all the photo
redos. An added bonus of the original instructions.
Which only apply to the vintage figure.
This is a dream custom to have come true :)

Thought I had uploaded this ages ago along with some of the other Album/Book Covers and other images in my Creations set, but clearly not.
So.
This is the album cover I made for my band (now deceased) Tracksuit Ambassador 3rd CD (the 1st "Cowboys and Indie Things" was a very rough first attempt and the 2nd "Legs Akimbo" was a one take acoustic set we did). Made from scratch, the "man" was done initially in Poser then I took the image and colours and shaded around the shape eventually coming up with what is above.
The weirdest thing is I made this BEFORE we wrote most of the songs on including the title track "Electroman" usually the album gets it's name from a track on the disc, not with me though.
