This is another teams creation for the Scrapheap Challenge 2013 at the Big Boys Toys show at Elim Pentecostal Church in Loughborough. It is an annual event that we have been attending for a few years. In the past we have exhibited our LEGO train set.
Last year we were awarded a trophy for The Most Innovative Solution. Our team consisted of myself, Son #1 and Daughter #1 (at the time they were 12 and 9 years old). This year the team is the same, but we are all 1 year older!
The challenge this year is to transport a Ping Pong Ball over some wooden steps. They are originally built from MDF to form car servicing ramps. The competitors do not have prior knowledge of the challenge task.
Although a fun event, there are strict rules on what is allowed (and what isn't) - for example you can't power the device from mains electricity or from any form of combustion.
The parts used must come from the 'heap'... the 2 hour build time flies past.
This device uses an elastic band wound tightly inside the wheels, this is attached to the arm. When released the elastic bands push the wheel forward.
If remember rightly it managed to climb two steps.
cheat as I took this yesterday but it's been a long day...
and no she doesnt wear them - I got them as soft shoes to wear at the toddler group we have just joined as she comes out filthy all over her tights but they stay on for precisely 3 seconds

I refer to this simple elastic skirt as the "5 Minute Sack Skirt." The only thing that differentiates this skirt from a drawstring bag is a seam along the bottom, and, uh, a drawstring.
I used a quilter's "country cotton" which is rather see-through, but since the skirt is only functioning as a sort of underskirt/slip, this is a minor issue. Using thicker fabric might be a good idea.
These are marked my size ( UK 7) but feel a bit small on. Clarkes "bubbles " by the brand. Very green !
The pointer is pointing to a lacuna that is surrounding a chrondrocyte. Notice the abundance of elastin fibers and the lacunar space is larger than hyaline cartilage and fibrocartilage.

Leave a biro unattended and it will escape to the planet Biro. Elastic bands have an attraction to Postboxes. Cannot blame the postie they use red ones.
so what is happening here?
Of course photographers and certain men are also attracted but thats a different story
