Random scenery in the Eixample, the part of Barcelona designed to be a model for modern cities. The corner of each block is cut of in order to make the intersections wider.

This was the neighborhood district we stayed in while in Barcelona. The Eixample (pronounced Eye-shom-pluh) was one of the city's original suburbs built in the late 19th and early 20th Century and is considered the heart of Barcelona's Modernista movement. It features wide, tree-lined avenues and is car-friendly. This is the building across the street from our hotel and is representative of what the neighborhood looks like.
