The MGs version of the Austin Montego, powered by the same 115bhp fuel injected O series engine of the Austin Montego Si and GTi with equivelent performance and handling and trademark red seat belts. Contemporary tests quoted a top speed of 115mph and the 0-60mph sprint in 9.1 seconds.

Joined from 1985 by the more powerful MG Montego Turbo.
