Despite this book's age, the collection of twelve essays contained within its covers discuss important ideas in Jewish education, many of which were far ahead of their time. The figures, from the 18th to the mid-20th centuries, include scholars, educators, philosophers, and a pediatrician, and they taught in many different language, though Hebrew would become the standard thanks to the Zionist movement and after the establishment of the State of Israel. The writings and theories covered include those of N.H. Wiesel, Samson Raphael Hirsch, Rabbi Israel Salanter, A.D. Gordon, Janusz Korczak, Franz Rosensweig, Martin Buber, Rabbi Kook, and Sarah Schenirer. This book, therefore, surveys trends in Jewish education and thought during periods of profound change in Jewish history and culture; their relevance are not lost in the book's age (New York: Thomas Yoseloff, 1964).
The New York State Education Department Building[a] (commonly known as the State Education Building) is a state office building in Albany, New York. It houses offices of the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and was formerly home to the New York State Museum and New York State Library. Designed by Henry Hornbostel and opened in 1912, the building is known for its expansive colonnade
Some of the buildings which make up Sunderland University's Sir Tom Cowie Campus on the banks of the River Wear.
The expansive site includes St Peter's Library, located inside the 'Prospect Building' that boasts stunning panoramic views of the river.
The large building forming a backdrop in this view is 'The Riverside Building', a student's eatery that offers sustainable, locally sourced meals and drinks.
Other buildings include the 'Sir Tom Cowie Lecture Theatre', the 'David Goldman Infomatics Centre' which focuses on new cutting-edge technology and the 'David Puttnam Media Centre' from where the local community radio station Spark broadcasts.
All of the campus buildings are arranged around 'University Square', a large open area that has previously hosted a variety of events.
In the background, the contrasting architecture of what was the tall spire of Presbyterian Church of England in North Bridge Street and the Stadium of Light, situated on what was the site of Wearmouth Colliery.
