Re-edited from the vault. A Cooper's Hawk, a second after it hit this Ring-necked duck, the insewing struggle lasted a few minutes before the Hawk released its prey. The Hawk was waterlogged and had a hard time getting airborne. The duck popped up and swam away, presumably unharmed. What a show, and the reason I do wildlife photography. Thank you for viewing my gallery at Whistletown Wilds in southeastern Connecticut.

This is a 2nd edit of this photo, and is the first of what I hope to be a process of learning painterly editing techniques. The photo itself, SOOC, was dull and colourless. It was just before sunrise on an overcast day, and it was just the way Stormi was gazing out to sea (where his owner was swimming) that made me keep it.
