Zealandia's electric boat 'Ara Kawau' (translates to path of the shag), Wellington, New Zealand. This Duffy electric boat was manufactured by the company of the same name in the middle of the Mojave Desert, California. Originally used as a water taxi for the Auckland, New Zealand America's Cup challenge of 2003 where Zealandia took over ownership in 2005.

Macro Monday - Cotton
These are face scrubbies that I crocheted. They are an eco friendly alternative to cotton pads for makeup removal. We are doing our best to avoid anything single use. HMM
365 weekly theme - Introduction:
I am a maker of various things. Mostly handmade greetings cards so expect to see some of those in my 365. I used to teach card making and scrapbooking to adults but now it's just a hobby.
I finally succumbed to joining the 365 today (my fourth). I managed a photo each day for three days and have set up a flat lay for tomorrow...piece of cake huh? ;)
Reasons for joining:

2. On New Year's Day my osteopath posted on Instagram "Do something that scares you" Well, committing to a 365 is pretty scary!

Cappadocia, Turkey. November 8th 2017
Riders pass through the volcanic landscape of Anatolian Cappadocia, known as the Land of Beautiful Horses.
I was sitting in a friend's garden, near Fort Davis, Texas, enjoying dozens of hummingbirds enjoying the flowers and feeders. One broad-tail hummingbird took it upon himself to serve as sentinel and try to keep all other hummingbirds away, except for his girlfriends. He seemed particularly interested in keeping this rufous away. Finally, the broad-tail was away, or not paying attention when this beautiful little guy snuck in.
We have rufous in Colorado, but they're at slightly higher elevations than I normally shoot.
Rögle vindkraftpark
The Rögle Windfarm pictured in the distance is actually 3 miles northw west of Hasslarp, Sweden (where this image was captured) in Kattarp, Sweden.
The Rögle wind power park on Röglevägen and is tagged under Solar cell companies, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Norwegian energy group Vardar AS (Vardar Vind AB).
The company's wind power portfolio in southern Sweden includes two wind farms that are in operation, with a total installed capacity of 29 MW and an annual production of approx. 70 GWh.
The Rögle wind farm is located in Helsingborg municipality and includes 8 turbines of 2.85 MW, a total of 23 MW installed power. Rögle was completed in February 2016.
An interesting house in Ibstone, looks like it was built of wood, or were the tree trunks attached to the brickwork. Either Way it is eco friendly as the black will absorb heat, keeping heating bills in the winter low, bur then will it also be unbearably hot in the summer?

This Ferruginous Pygmy Owl (Glaucidium brasilianum phalaenoides) is one of a pair that has been roosting in a bamboo patch a short distance from my house. Unfortunately there was a bush fire close to their patch and since then they seemed to have taken up residence elsewhere.
A tranquil forest scene with lush greenery, sunlight filtering through the trees, and a serene pond reflecting the natural beauty.
Saxåns Nature Reserve
Located in Skåne, Sweden of the Landskrona Municipality, the nationally designated areas inventory, also known as CDDA, began in 1995 under the CORINE programme of the European Commission.
It is now one of the agreed annual Eionet priority data flows maintained by the European Environment Agency.
The Saxåns Nature Reserve is used with the intention to protect fauna, flora, habitats and landscapes.
I photographed this Pileated Finch (Coryphospingus pileatus) at Finca Ecoturística San Javier, in the vereda Chucuní near Ibagué, Tolima, Colombia. It perched on a rock, showing its red crest and black and gray plumage. It is found in Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela, and possibly in Bolivia and French Guiana. It is mostly a year-round resident, though some seasonal movements are suspected in Venezuela. Known for its melodious song, it is a favorite of birdwatchers and photographers. IUCN lists it as Least Concern. The crest is black with a red central stripe, and it is usually held flat.
I made this frame with a Canon R5 and the RF 800mm f/11, at 1/90 sec, f/11, ISO 1600, −0.5 EV. Finca San Javier offers guided birding as part of its work to help conserve tropical dry forest.

This is one of my favorite hats, and one of my signature "rockstar" items. Only very special pieces get my "rockstar" designation. These are items that I imagine would be worn by the lavish hedonistic rockstars of the romantic steam powered era, if there had ever been such a thing. So, if you've packed your steam-powered guitar and are heading out on a time-traveling trip, this is the cap to pack!
It just oozes charisma and neo-victorian rockstar elegance. Made from eco-friendly cotton canvas, this newsboy style hat is a dark olive green, and fully lined with black cotton. The hat is fitted with a super-comfortable elastic band on the inside brim, so the hat fits a wide range of adult heads. Made with ultra-durable construction, and a high quality brim.
This stunning hat is adorned with three striped natural brown cruelty-free pinion feathers. The feathers are accented at the base with a dark tea-colored braided rope applique and an antique star pendant. The decorated portion of the brim is made from a subtly fantastic diamond print ribbon in olive green and antique gold colors, with a slight metallic sheen. This ribbon is framed on the top and bottom with braided antique gold wire ribbon. The texture effect is really cool and gives the hat and added level of super-fantastic-awesomeness.

A greetings card, an envelope, an eraser, a paper clip and a pencil. That's a lot of stationery to pack into a small space.
For this week's Macro Mondays group theme, Stationery... just in case you were in any doubt. :)
The eraser is 1¼" wide. The pencil is made from recycled newspaper, which creates wonderful shavings when it's sharpened.
This Lesson's Motmot (Momotus lessonii) perched on a moss-covered branch at Hacienda Montecristo, a coffee farm that offers birdwatching about 15 kilometers from Santa Rosa de Copán, Honduras, with its blue crown, black mask and racket-tipped tail in view. It lives in forest and woodland from southern Mexico to western Panama. Motmots like this one often sit very still, which makes them hard to see in dense forest despite their size. It eats insects and lizards and regularly takes fruit, and it nests in a tunnel dug into a bank.
I used a Canon R5 with the RF 800mm f/11 plus the RF 1.4x extender for this one, at 1/750 sec, f/16, ISO 6400, −0.5 EV. Hacienda Montecristo combines coffee growing with ecotourism and birdwatching, which gives the farm a reason to keep the trees these birds use.

These one-of-a-kind patchwork cup cozies enable my studio to be environmentally responsible by forcing me to utilize small leftover fabrics.
My eco cup cozies make a great gift whether for yourself or someone else:
- reduce the use of cardboard protectors and double cupping
- washable and therefore re-usable
- insulating: a layer of batting helps to keep your drink warm
- protective: they work better than cardboard protectors, I find that with very hot drinks, the cardboard protectors do very little to protect your hands
- very cheerful: add colour and individuality to your surroundings
