Solar Eclipse viewed through an h-alpha telescope from Livermore, California.

An obvious double exposure that wasn't well thought out. Perhaps blinded by the light

We headed out from Centennial, Wyoming at about 3:15am and reached our destination in Casper at about 6:30am (stopping for gas in both Laramie and Casper just out of paranoia at what might happen later). Here's the sun rising shortly after we reached our viewing location. No clouds nearby at that time, but there were high clouds visible on the western and northern horizons.

Emphasizing the corona of the Sun. Taken in Grand Island Nebraska

Now out with the DSLR with a much better zoom. Sorry about the lens reflection creating a secondary ring; I tried to edit that out but was unsuccessful. As for the dot to the left of the corona, I can't tell if that's the star Regulus or another lens distortion.

PNNL staff in Richland and Seattle watch the eclipse, which is the first one visible across the contiguous United States in 38 years.
