watched this eclipse from 1 am through 4 am , we were so lucky to have clear skies for the main phases of the eclipse!
My son was working on showing me how to use my new camera last night. We were fortunate enough to have last night's partial eclipse as a subject. My son took these photos, I just edited them to upload on flickr

I did a subjective experiment leading up to totality. Two different images of the eclipsing sun projections through trees on a white cardboard box. Here, through the needles of a Douglas fir. The other image is under a small deciduous tree. Very different projection effect.

Yea well, call me ignorant, but before the Oct. 3rd I didn't know this happens when the light passes between the leaves during an eclipse :(

Total lunar eclipse occurred from 01:00 Australian EDT on December 11, 2011. The next one won't occur until 2014. Photographed from my front yard.
The sun is nearly down at this point, but the eclipse isn't quite finished. You can see the treeline along the rim trail of Bryce Canyon opposite Bryce Point in this shot.

If you look at the ground you can see little tiny crescents. It's dozens of tiny eclipses created by nature's pinhole camera--tree leaves.

On Dec. 21st, the winter solstice, we were camping at Crews Lake, which gave us a great view of the full lunar eclipse. There has not been a full lunar eclipse on the winter solstice since 1638.

Tonight's Eclipse - ok, so not quite as effective as the one seen in the US, but still great to see and photograph, being a partial allowed a great view of the sunspots and I rather liked the cloud moving across the sun...
