Whiskeytown Lake in the light of the May 20 solar eclipse. This was taken during the partial phase about half an hour before full annular eclipse. You can see the lower right corner of the sun was covered by the moon by looking at the flare. "L"

the sun and the other projecting the image of the eclipse on a white screen.

Eclipse viewers were also passed around and the 65% partial eclipse visible

from Cape Town was truly spectacular.

Fairly cloudy conditions.

Others in Eclipse series

This was taken after the total eclipse. There were lots of clouds during the eclipse but just as the earth shadow was moving off the moon the clouds disappeared and I got this shot.

an attempt to capture yesterdays eclipse, and attempt to get back into photography as well. ;)

This image was taken on the West end of Easter Island on the volcanic crater rim accross from Orongo. This is approximately 2 minutes into totallity of the solar eclipse on Sunday July 11, 2010. The image is an HDR combination of three photos taken handheld with a Canon 5D mk II, and 24-105mm L lens. If my pictures of the eclipse fail to impress, maybe I can impress with the fact that I didnt use a tripod? The middle photos I did have to sit and brace against my leg, but otherwise that was it... ;P

(I don't have a tall tripod, so I had no choice!)

dios nos permitio la dicha de despedir el año con un espectacular eclipse de luna, asi se vio en cielo de villahermosa, tabasco, méxico

This sequence of the moon is from the time we first spotted near the dusty eastern horizon.

As the moon was rising, it had a deep red hue, due to atmospheric scattering and gradually brightened to its normal whitish color.

The penumbral lunar eclipse is in progress since the first image and can be made out as a slight darkening on the left limb of the moon, though in this composite it is not that evident for the reason that the moon is changing colors and brightening, so its tough to notice any relative darkening....

All pics taken at an interval of 2 min and stacked in "Startrails".

La luna durante el eclipse, tomada a las 10:49 PM.

Acabo de instalar el Eclipse para probarlo.

I actually think this is the prettiest shot--about 6 minutes into the eclipse. The sunspots, moon's limb, and clouds all show up pretty well.

This is a Star Trails shot made showing the Total Lunar Eclipse on 10 Dec 2011.

I was fighting with clouds especially when the Moon was in partial shadow at the start & as it ended.

The moon was in its total eclipse stage during this only starting to come out at the very end when the clouds move in. I was planning to run this for at least another 40 minutes before getting clouded out.
