Composición del eclipse lunar del 28/09/15 hecha con seis tomas realizadas entre las 04:00 y las 05:30 aproximadamente
A shot of the 2017 solar eclipse. This was taken by taping a pair of solar viewing glasses to a piece of cardboard and then taping that to the front of a 300mm zoom lens creating a DIY solar filter. Taken from Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
I was out walking the dog during the eclipse this morning and noticed as the time of the most complete eclipse approached (90% here) the shadows under the trees looked odd. The light filtering through the trees to the sidewalk was crescent shaped.

A chuva deu uma tregua e o tempo limpou bem na hora do eclipse. Poderia ser melhor com uma lente de qualidade..:-)

Today was the day of the partial solar eclipse. This was shot with a 10 stop + 3 stop filter on top of my Tamron lens. The things you see in the center are actually sun spots.
This was shot at the peak of the phase.
Hope you like it.

In French Guiana for my first total eclipse...and I was left breathless by the eclipse sunrise. Now I know why there are so many nutty eclipse chasers in the world. More shots to follow when I get back home............and I will clean up this shot too!

An experiment, 2500 video frames of total solar eclipse processed in AS3, Registax and Faststone. Image rotated so suns axis of rotation vertical. Regulus is on left. 70mm f6 refractor plus mod'd Kiss X4.
Eclipse as seen from UAE, it was partial eclipse in UAE, the moon did not cover more than 20 % of the sun in this location, this shot was taken at 3 pm using 300-800 lens, D70 with Baadar Solar filter, by 5 p, the sun was lower than the moon with few degrees, and it will set before the moon, it is then a new moon, and astronomically tomorrow (Tuesday) is first of Ramadan for countries that follow the start of the month by astronomical methods, but in SA and UAE which follow seeing method Wednesday will be first of Ramadan.
Still it is not sure if UAE and SA will follow the seeing method, as it will be almost impossible to see the new moon tonight after maghreb, it will be very close to the glare of the sun and cant be seen.
I thought this was a neat way to see the Great American Solar Eclipse. Using a colander all the little colander holes show the progression of the eclipse. We only had about 93% totality at my house.
the eclipse crescent also shows in the other shadows flickering through the tree branches on the surface of my dirty hot tub cover.
Well, not for the time being, anyway.

This photo probably does not do justice to the unusual lighting conditions, but I'm not sure how I could improve it. I believe it was taken about 3 or 4 minutes before the maximum eclipse here in Ann Arbor. The camera was operating in aperture-priority mode set at f/9, so you can infer that the amount of light was rather low given that the camera chose ISO 3200 with an exposure of 1/15 of a second. It did seem like the squirrel held that position longer than I'd normally have expected.
Partial solar eclipse decreasing with only 5% of Sun now obscured. Picture taken through thin cirrus clouds. Taken from Loanhead, Scotland.
86% partial and cloudy in North Carolina, but made for some wonderful photography.

July 21, 2009 total solar eclipse near third contact as shadow leaves the horizon, giving the horizon an orange glow. The far edge of the shadow is about to reach the Sun as the shadow comes toward us, ending totality. Taken from Northern Cook Islands, at sea on m/s Paul Gauguin. Using 20Da and 28-105mm lens at 60mm at f/5 and ISO100. Mercury, blurred by ship's motion, at top. Photo by Alan Dyer Ā© 2009.
During this solar eclipse I was 2 km east of the radio telescope of Parkes in Australia, planning to take photos of the eclipsed setting Sun with the 64 metre dish. A very rare opportunity. Unfortunately the sky was cloudy and I missed the sunset, but I was able to take some photos of the eclipse about half an hour before sunset, when the Sun emerged from the clouds for some minutes.
400mm f/64 lens, exposure 1/8000 at 100 ISO.
The Eclipse Cycle, thought I'd organize the shots that I have of the eclipse into a circle showing the eclipse from start to finish. Also a hard shoot, I spent the hours from midnight to 4 am tracking the moon and taking pictures. To be fair, I was in a hot tub for most of the shoot so that made it easier. Going clockwise starting at the bottom is the progression of the eclipse.
