I finally found the time to sort trough all my images of the 2024 Solar Eclipse and to create this composite image, showing the different phases of the stunning event.
Starting clockwise from uneclipsed Sun top center, the image shows the progression of the partial phase until totality begins with the Baily's Beads and the solar prominences on the bottom center right.
From bottom center left the opposite sequence starts with the Baily's Beads and the even bigger prominences at end of totality, followed by the second partial phase until the Moon finally disappears again on top.
In the center of this circle is the eclipsed sun and the magnificent solar corona during totality.
What is Solar eclipse?
~ the word "eclipse" here means that one celestial object is hidden by another. than, what does hide the sun?
Its the moon
~When the moon is passing over the sun and its shadow is cast on earth, a solar eclipse can be observed in the shadowed area.
~In a solar eclipse, the sun gradually wanes.
Taken with a strong Graduated ND filter when the Moon had 85% coverage of the Sun. Quite an eerie darkness was caused for a few minutes at the height of the eclipse.
I just bought a bulk roll of Delta 100 so I wanted to see how much dynamic range I could squeeze out of it. What better way than with an eclipse? Printed 8"x10" but with a healthy enlargement. The grain is very fine despite frequent and careless agitation during development.

Partial Lunar Eclipse captured early this morning. The sunrise behind me made it hard to shoot and the hazy horizon didn't help much either! This was good practice for the September eclipse though.
The eclipse as seen from my deck as my daughter was yelling at me from the roof to "get out side and take pictures!" I already was. Sorry to be super late posting this but that's the way it goes these days. Been really busy with regular and not so regular life adventures. Having fun and doing the important things too. Hope you are all well and I promise to check in on your photo streams here shortly.

I finally managed some time to get through all of the images I took of the total lunar eclipse and put them together. Here it is, from near Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, from start to finish.

During the eclipse in full totality, making the whole horizon look like a sunset. Was an amazing experience.

Focus of this conversion has been the front end which as generally followed my Streetdeck process to create a fair representation of the real bus.
Windscreen is a home-made attempt which is ok, but needs further development and the next build, currently under way, will incorporate a few tweaks to this arrangement to help soften things a little.
The next one will also be lengthened to properly match the dimensions of the extended East Coast Buses prototype.
The Eclipse 2 donor is shown as comparison.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes behind the Earth so that the Earth blocks the Sun's rays from striking the Moon. This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, a lunar eclipse can only occur the night of a full moon. The type and length of an eclipse depend upon the Moon's location relative to its orbital nodes. The most recent total lunar eclipse occurred on December 10, 2011.
The Shot of the sun was taken this morning the Moon and the Eclipse was from earlier in my photographic Career.
I just edited them all onto the same shot.
Today is the big day! Our very own Bohus is in Nashville to capture the 2017 Eclipse. Here's a telescope sporting a modified WonderPana filter holder along with our ND1000 + ND16 filters stacked up to knock the sun down by 14 stops. That'll make it possible to shoot even before the total eclipse. (We won't mention the implications of his choice to wear a Radio Shack T-shirt :)

Solar Eclipse April 8, 2024 from Orem, Utah. Here in Orem we are about 1,500 miles from the path of totality but we still got to see a magnitude .49 eclipse. Not the big show but still plenty of fun and interest. It was mostly sunny and clear but there was one small cloud that was often in just the wrong place. Impressive show just the same.
September 27, 2015 A small hole in the clouds allowing me to catch this phose of last nights eclipse.
While I'm stuck at home recovering from a minor injury I thought I'd try my hand at the ubiquitous eclipse up here in Boston from my deck. For those curious, this is an extreme high-dynamic range shot on a DxO One @ f/8 with dual ND filters out front. Final exposure was 1/20,000th sec.
