Helicopter from Naval base Yokosuka passes in front of the moon over Tokyo Bay.
Sony A7 and Contax 100-300mm f4.5
Total eclipse of the moon. I used the tracking mount from an old telescope to follow the moon - and this allowed for a sharply-focused exposure.
While I'm stuck at home recovering from a minor injury I thought I'd try my hand at the ubiquitous eclipse up here in Boston from my deck. For those curious, this is an extreme high-dynamic range shot on a DxO One @ f/8 with dual ND filters out front. Final exposure was 1/20,000th sec.
On August 21, 2017 the greater Atlanta Metro Area was in the path of a solar eclipse...the path of totality traveling across the entire USA. A first in many years. Our area was in the 97% maximum blockage path making it much darker than usual...however this image was taken when the blockage was at approximately 20-25%
Pre-lunar eclipse; September 27th. I love the worn steps up the mound.

The partial eclipse with some well placed sunspots from the Questar. Taken 2017-08-21 17:39 UT from near Torrington, Wyoming. Questar 89/1350 mm, f 15, telescope with Sony NEX-5N mirrorless camera at prime focus. Deconvolution in Lynkeos and final crop and exposure in photoshop.
During the eclipse in full totality, making the whole horizon look like a sunset. Was an amazing experience.
Day 233
Des Moines was supposed to be around 90% totality on the eclipse so we thought we'd at least see some darkening. But then the storms came in and darkened the skies for us. We were able to catch a peek or two in the parking lot at work. Still pretty cool.
The March 26, 2021 Lunar Eclipse photographed over Rio Rancho NM. The moon was swallowed by clouds along the horizon shortly before totality.
Today is the big day! Our very own Bohus is in Nashville to capture the 2017 Eclipse. Here's a telescope sporting a modified WonderPana filter holder along with our ND1000 + ND16 filters stacked up to knock the sun down by 14 stops. That'll make it possible to shoot even before the total eclipse. (We won't mention the implications of his choice to wear a Radio Shack T-shirt :)
This lunar eclipse shot was taken from my backyard back on a clear winter night of the winter solstice December 2010. The last lunar eclipse happening on a winter solstice was 372 years prior.
Had to shoot at ISO 1600 as it was total darkness outside. The moon is not perfect, but I am so glad that the stars were also captured in the dark night sky.
Shot as is with just some sharpness and white balance adjustments.
Happy weekend, everyone!
Eclipse Photos - Nimrod Lake, Arkansas
Sometimes pointing your camera at the right place, at the right time, and firing a burst of photos off with a large dose of luck is what it takes.

I believe this is an eclipse male wigeon on Park Hall Lake. It was quite friendly, coming in quite close for this shot.
