It's been awhile. But you and your natural foods stores and flowering trees and sunlight, you're alright in my book.

Even better, the good friends. Yesterday was spent with many of them. Tomorrow with one of my favorite people on the planet and tomorrow night with a group of ninjas. Yes, this is shaping up to be quite a holiday.

Oh and thank you for the peanut butter toast.

This is how it goes. List 10 things that your friends may or may not know about you, but that are true. Tag ten people and be sure to let them know they've been tagged (a quick message will do). Don't forget to link back to the person who tagged you. Post a picture in your stream with the 10 facts and list your tagged people. This took quite some time to do..so don't just lurk; leave a comment or something!

1. My favorite TV show, and pretty much the only one I watch (now that The Wire is gone), is Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations. Bourdain is, without doubt, one of my favorite icons; I admire how he easily incorporates local culture, socioeconomics, history and politics when visiting a particular country.

2. I’m pretty sure that none of you know that I’m partially Bahamian – my dad was born and raised in the idyllic group of Caribbean islands, known as The Bahamas. My other half is Creole, which is a name given to people in New Orleans of a mixed African/French background.

3. Many people on here are surprised by my age and relative youth, perhaps because of the caliber or subjects of my work? I’m not really sure, but it only serves to make me feel like a youngster by contrast. haha

4. I love ethnic food, particularly street food! For an outsider like me, food is an invaluable portal into a different culture. One of the benefits of living in such a diverse metropolis is the wealth of ethnic, exotic food available at your doorstep. One of my favorite things to do with friends is go to neighborhoods laden with street food, such as Highland Park and Echo Park, and go on a Taco Crawl – essentially going to a strip of taco trucks, and try a taco from each. I’m also quite fond of food of the Mexican, Thai, Indian, Brazilian, and Eastern Mediterranean/Levant varieties. I used to like and frequent Korean BBQ joints, until I was hurried out of one and later refused service – on a busy Saturday evening – due to my skin color.

5. While I’ve always had a keen interest in foreign countries, only recently has that evolved into a passion for visiting those places, something made visible in my upcoming 2-week South American trip. I’m planning my first ever Euro trip (namely, Berlin) sometime later on this year or early next year (only pending trip expenses, as I have the necessary airfare money in place).

6. My flickr icon is a scene from the movie City of God," a popular Brazilian movie that depicts life in the drug-addled and violence-plagued slums there.

7.El año siguiente estaré tomando mi 3º año de español, el primero en un país de habla hispana. Viviendo afuera, donde no queda otra que practicar el español, espero afianzar mis habilidades, logrando fluidez ;)

8. I’ve developed a mild addiction to tea, and there’s nary a meal I have that’s not accompanied with tea. Mint and Lavender are my favorites, but I’m also partial to various Green and Herbal tea flavors. I especially enjoy the pure, cleansing feeling you get after drinking tea.

9. I don’t like, or really care for driving around; I’m content walking, riding my bicycle or using mass transit. I find it much easier and less stress-inducing..plus, it’s always good to know you’re not like the average Angelino, who spends 82 hours of his/her life sitting in traffic.

10. I love music! According to my last.fm, I have in excess of 37,000 plays on my iTunes; favorites include: Beck, Bob Marley, Thievery Corporation, Tosca, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Jimi Hendrix, Dido, and Röyksopp, amongst others.

Perfect to wrap around a water bottle!

All the pennants hanging on the string are from the kit cover! Make sure to use the cover in projects as well!

This would be a great project to add bit-o-honey treats inside!
