I started to write a grand speech on how we can and should take care of Mother Earth, but I think all of you know that already. I also think that we are all going to be hyper aware of it's beauty when we leave or den caves in a couple weeks, maybe scenes like this at Mirror Lakes will be that much more sublime. In the meantime, here's to Spring and all the wonderment it heralds.

Landscape of Tibet

Tibet is the highest country on earth with an average elevation of over 4000m. The lowest regions of Tibet are still over 2000m above sea level with Jomo Langma (Everest,Sagarmatha) ཇོ་མོ་གླང་མ being the highest point at 8848m. Tibet is covered in grasslands, mountains and valleys.

Many of Asia’s largest rivers have their headwaters in Tibet such as the Ma chu རྨ་ཆུ་ ( Yellow River), Dri chu འབྲི་ཆུ་ (Yangtze), Nag chu ནག་ཆུ་ - རྒྱ་མོ་རྔུལ་ཆུ (Salween), Yarlung Tsangpo ཡར་ཀླུངས་གཙང་པོ་ (Brahmaputra) and Dza chu རྫ་ཆུ་ (Mekong). Western Tibet (Ngari) is a high, arid region with few people, while southeast Tibet (Kham) is forested and suitable for farming. Northern Tibet (Amdo) is covered in vast grasslands filled with yaks and sheep and central Tibet (U-Tsang) is the most densely populated area of Tibet lying along the fertile Yarlung Valley.

Yesterday we had about 5cm of snow covering the ground. Winter is not done with us yet, after spring had officially started for a whole month.

Nam Tso གནམ་མཚོ།

salt lake The lake lies at an elevation of 4,718 m, and has a surface area of 1,870 square kilometres. It is the highest salt lake in the world, and largest salt lake in the Tibet Autonomous Region. However, it is not the largest salt lake in the Tibetan Plateau. That title belongs to KokoNor མཚོ་སྔོན་ མཚོ་ཁྲི ་ཤོར་རྒྱལ་མོ་ (almost twice the size of Namtso). Namtso has five uninhabited islands of reasonable size, in addition to one or two rocky outcrops. The islands have been used for spiritual retreat by pilgrims who walk over the lake's frozen surface at the end of winter, carrying their food with them. They spend the summer there, unable to return to shore again until the water freezes the following winter. This practice is no longer permitted under the Communist Chinese regime in Tibet. www.footprinttravelguides.com/c/2848/tibet/&Action=pr...

And what was the taste of us? Were we salty or sweet? Do we need a sauce applied to promote the appetite?

Possibly a Geoglossum species. Thanks for getting down here on the forest floor in NZ autumn / fall..

Earth Day for me was a walk in the woods with my Cairn Terrier, Digger. The two of us enjoying our earth, like we do every day. Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day events in more than 193 countries are now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network.

This week's theme for Mosaic Montage Monday was Earth Tones. They are warm and lovely around here! HMMM!

As farmers are beginning to plough fields now in preparation for planting we can see different shades of earth tones across the landscape. This one in particular caught my eye .

Reduce, re-use, recycle. The 3 R's we ought to be living by. I think these pencils are the best use for 'newspapers' these days... For Macro Mondays this week's theme is; Stationery

"Joyful joyful we adore our Earth in all its wonderment

Simple gifts of nature that all join into a paradise

Now we must resolve to protect her

Show her our love throughout all time

With our gentle hand and touch

We make our home a newborn world

Now we must resolve to protect her

Show her our love throughout all time

With our gentle hand and touch

We make our home a newborn world"

There is so much that every single one of us can do, to rescue our wonderful planet, some ideas here !

The Grand Canyon is probably one of the most magnificent sight I've ever been to. I find difficult to traaduce the vastness of such immense landscape in one picture : it often looks "unfair" to the nature and the beauty of the place according to me.

Anyway, this is a handheld panorama of two shots manually stiched together. Why handheld? Because it was initially raining f'cking hard and I gave up on shooting from the rim, but the sun peaked out when I was in my car, about to leave, so I just ran toward the nearest point of view wth my camera and... Forgot the tripod. You tend to be a little too enthousiast and in a rush when you live accross the ocean and this might be your only opportunity of shooting a sunset over the Grand Canyon !

So here it is, hope you like it guys ! Feel free to like, coment or share the picture, it's always cool to have some feedbacks!

A three shot manually focus stacked image ,with my tripod as low as was practical. Just following the earth to the setting sun which did not quite line up for me but happy with my effort none the less .

Will be back later to visit your works.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! xo❤️

A hoodoo (also called a tent rock, fairy chimney, or earth pyramid) is a tall, thin spire of rock formed by erosion. Hoodoos typically consist of relatively soft rock topped by harder, less easily eroded stone that protects each column from the elements. They generally form within sedimentary rock and volcanic rock formations.
