Quantum physics says a thing in the universe only gets real by looking at it. By taking the measurement. So, if no one would be out there looking at it - taking the photograph - the scene would not exist. Accordingly, this means the scene only exists, because someone was looking at it.

Lago di Braies - After a cloudy afternoon 20 minutes of sunshine. Unfortunately the low water did not allow me to take the picture I wanted! If you have any questions, write to me in private.
The original plan was to get the sun rising right behind those impressive group of power poles. Due to struggeling with a fogged up lens, I finally came up with this pre-sunrise shot, which shows a moody scene with some nice details in the foreground.

Finally, spring has arrived. This is a quick shot of some wild rose bush. But I am not too sure about it. Maybe someone knows more about it?

Arrangement of autumnal-coloured leafs where I placed this wonderful maple leaf on. The whole scene is side-lit which emphasizes the vein-like texture and shadows, producing the 3D-effect. The maple leaf was already covered in frost - the first signs that winter is about to come.

One of my favorite photos taken this year.
I kept moving from dune to dune looking for a nice ridge pointing toward the sunset and some great ripples to catch the light. I thought I was going to be too late when I spied this dune in the distance. Luckily, I made it to the top just in time to line everything up.
White Sands is a great little park, I hope to return soon and share it with

Emerging from the Fog - (click to view full image) - We took a couple early morning boat rides through the Bayou. The first morning we experienced heavy fog. The fog cleared around this tree just long enough for me to take a photo. The lake was hauntingly beautiful.
During this pretty colourful sunset I decided to do an extremely long exposure of 120 seconds, to see how the clouds and light will fade over time.

As this shot was taken in mid of September, the autumn colors have not already started to show out everywhere. Nevertheless, I decided to take a photograph of this scenery. Could imagine this shot hanging on the wall of a trendy cafe with comfortable brown vintage furniture - giving the place the extra touch of atmosphere all around the year.

This tree appeared to me like some deep space antenna. In the night sky you can see the milky way, the constellations of orion and the plejades.

A nice arrangement of beech and pine trees, lit up by the soft morning sun in front of a atmospheric background of fog. It was the simple warm and brown colour palette on the bark and fallen leafs, which caught my eye on this scene.

Closeup of a group of crisp beech leafs shining bright in the reflected light of the Hörschbach gorge in the Swabian Forest. Nicky and I were taking the approx. 6 km hike upwards the valley.

The sunset put on a beautiful display as I passed the Van Wert wind turbines while on my way home from chasing tornadoes in Iowa!
The first light of the day brings new life to the Enz Valley with its soft hills, meadows and poplar trees. Captured from the rock gardens near Mühlhausen.

For me, this scene could have been taken somewhere in Africa. It looks like a giant giraffe could walk into the frame in the next moment. However, this shot has been taken less than a ten-minute foot-walk away from my home in southern Germany. Landscape photography is the art to see the world. And while I never noticed them, on this very day the interplay of light and land exposed those remarkable trees. Which never-seen treasures might still be out there?

Nape Nape Beach
Napenape boasts some impressive cliffs of strikingly fine white limestone. These were formed by the deposits of microscopic marine organisms in shallow oceans surrounding a partly emerged and low-lying New Zealand continent area around 35 million years ago.
While there was dense fog down in the valley, I drove up to the highest point in the neighborhood, where the landscape was covered in frost and fine light hit this wonderful lone tree. The close wood works well as a background interest, so I will definitely be back to this tree, soon.

A nice little scene with ivy-ranked trees in my local forest. The bending road caught my eye as the scene was flooded with golden light of the setting sun. By the time this photo was edited, the scene had already turned into green.

Just added to the print store:
waihora-gallery.com/product/lake-ruataniwha/
Lake Ruataniwha is an artificial lake in the Mackenzie Basin in the South Island of New Zealand. It was formed in 1977–1981 as part of the Waitaki hydroelectric project. It lies on the traditional boundary of the Canterbury and Otago provinces, with the town of Twizel two kilometres to the north.
This shot took almost one year from my first visit of the location to the actual shoot of the scene. In late october the leaf colours where showing their best autumn mood. In the background there was some fog in the small valley. I really like the stone bridge as the main subject of the image with the rocks and the leaves in the foreground. Work in progress.

Whatever troubles you might have, the best way to leave them behind you is to keep moving forward with no looking back.
The day after Christmas, my home town Niefern in the Enz Valley was covered in a fluffy layer of fog, while the sun set, early. Family and friends were sitting at home, trinking coffee and eating cookies, while I was out for a short while to capture the ambient mood.
