Close your eyes and turn your face into the wind.

Feel it sweep along your skin in an invisible ocean of exultation.

Suddenly, you know you are alive.

― Vera Nazarian

I took this on a very windy day at Harrison Hot Springs last week.

I seem to be very busy lately, and will be out much of tomorrow, but will do my best to keep up.

HBM!

Oh come all ye faithful

Joyful and triumphant

Oh come ye, oh come ye to Bethlehem

Sing choirs of angels

Sing in exultation

Sing, all ye senders of the heaven above

Oh come all ye faithful

Joyful and triumphant

Oh come ye, oh come ye to Bethlehem

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee

Born that happy morning

Jesus, to Thee be all glory giv'n

Word of the Father

Now in flesh appearing

Oh come let us adore Him

Oh come let us adore Him

Oh come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord

Oh come all ye faithful

Joyful and triumphant

Oh come ye, oh come ye to Bethlehem

Come and behold Him

Born the King of Angels

Oh come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord

Oh come let us adore Him

Oh come let us adore Him

Oh come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord

Oh come all ye faithful

Joyful and triumphant

Oh come ye, oh come ye to Bethlehem

Oh come all ye faithful

Joyful and triumphant

Oh come ye, oh come ye to Bethlehem

Oh come all ye faithful

Joyful and triumphant

Oh come ye, oh come ye to Bethlehem

Oh come all ye faithful

Joyful and triumphant

Oh come ye, oh come ye to Bethlehem

Oh come let us adore Him

Cardinals are medium-sized redbirds characterized by a unique crest, a black mask on the face and a short cone-shaped bill. They are known for their vivid red color, however only the male presents itself in the bright colors. The female has grayish shades through her body with duller red wings and tail. Young cardinals are similar to females but rather then orange or reddish bills they have black or grey ones.

The male cardinal is very territorial and protects his breeding space from any male that comes his way. During the mating season, which begins in March, the males are so hot-blooded, that although they breed near birds of other species, they will never allow one of their own kinds to nestle in their territory. A male cardinal can be seen frequently following another from bush to bush, emitting a shrill note of anger, and diving aggressively towards the trespasser.

This combative action will continue until the transgressor has been satisfactorily ousted. Upon his exile, the victor will perch himself up in his favorite tree and begin pouring his heart out in an unmistakable song of cardinal exultation.

Cardinals do not migrate, and as a result they live their entire lives within one or two kilometer radius of where they were born. In the United Stated of America, the cardinal is the official bird of seven states. These states include: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia.

The Cardinal is a seed eater with a strong bill. He also likes fruits - small berries - and insects. Towards autumn they frequently ascend to the tops of tall trees in search of grapes and berries. Cardinals tend to be as fond of succulent or pulpy fruits as they are of the seeds of corn and grasses. Cardinals are very beneficial as they also eat a variety of weed seeds and insects that that can be injurious to humans.

Januar

Wohin man schaut, nur Schnee und Eis,

Der Himmel grau, die Erde weiß;

January

Only snow and ice wherever you look.

The sky is gray, the earth is white.

Hey! How the wind is whistling happily,

Hey! How he pinches our cheeks!

But he means well with the people,

Refreshes and strengthens, raises spirits high.

You homebodies, shame on you,

Come out, come out, and follow suit!

In wind and snow on icy road,

There, exultation soars all the more.

Summer smells so delicious on the street ... says goodbye to us with the scent of chrysanthemums… And let him be sad somewhere in a small lump… It's only on vacation... no! Not for good…The smell of chrysanthemums is hovering,

It's like the breath of autumn.

Her flight and exultation —

A cascade of luxurious tiaras!

A chord of divine colors

Autumn is crowned with radiance,

He has the charm of youth,

A wealth of rainbow tones.

The most gloomy rain is not terrible,

When is the flowering season in the garden

And fiery inspiration

Autumn royal ladies!

No heavy rain, no thick fog

No morning shaggy frost,

No burden of painful despondency

They will not hide the happiness of the mascot…

“. . . I would stand,

If the night blackened with a coming storm,

Beneath some rock, listening to notes that are

The ghostly language of the ancient earth,

Or make their dim abode in distant winds.

Thence did I drink the visionary power;

And deem not profitless those fleeting moods

Of shadowy exultation: not for this,

That they are kindred to our purer mind

And intellectual life; but that the soul,

Remembering how she felt, but what she felt

Remembering not, retains an obscure sense

Of possible sublimity. . . .”

Beautiful morning at Matheson Hammock Park, Coral Gables, FL.

“The Christ we find in ourselves is not identified with what we vainly seek to admire and idolize in ourselves—on the contrary, he has identified himself with what we resent in ourselves, for he has taken upon himself our wretchedness and our misery, our poverty and our sins…. We will never find peace if we listen to the voice of our own fatuous self-deception that tells us the conflict has ceased to exist. We will find peace when we can listen to the ‘death dance’ in our blood, not only with equanimity but with exultation because we hear within it the echoes of the victory of the Risen Savior.”

Jubilation, joy, exultation, and tears among the members of the Contrada del Nicchio in Piazza del Campo as they accompanied the Palio they had just won, breaking a fast that had now lasted 28 years.

Gerard experienced great highs and lows, sudden epiphanies and conversions, dramatic changes of heart, periods of exultation and of abiding sorrow and spiritual aridity. These states enrich his writing and our experience of reading it. They may embody what Gerard termed “selfness”: in this case, his own. Rather than a neurosis or a pathology, these quicksilver changes of mood are an innate constitutional response: simply who Gerard was, how he experienced the world, and how he apprehended God.

Happy aloha Friday, my lovely friends!

I’ve been playing a lot with exotic skins lately, mostly from Fallen Gods. I’ve been on the lookout for new and interesting outfits that not only look good with the skin, but perhaps more importantly, that enhance the appearance of the skin: combinations that make both the skin and the clothing better.

I stumbled across such an outfit at this month’s We Love Role Play — the Tengu Precious from Sasheba’s Closet!

Tengu comes with a hud with three colour scheme options (silver, gold, larimar), but is tintable. I added a little violet to the larimer, and got something that was just PURRRFECT for the Sidera skin from Fallen Gods.

" A particular hush to solemnity; an indescribable pause; a suspense. exultation possessed her soul ::

One can get just as much exultation in losing oneself in a little thing as in a big thing. It is nice to think how one can be recklessly lost in a daisy.

This young doe was not running from any sort of threat, she was simply running for the joy of running.

A few young deer were chasing each other around in the early morning light, but this doe was in a class by herself. She raced from one end of he hillside to the other in great, bounding leaps -- an expression of pure exultation.

2019 English Christian Songs With Lyrics | " All People Live in God’s Light"

Now in exultation, God’s holiness and righteousness thrive through the universe, exalting among all mankind. Cities of heaven laugh, the kingdoms of earth dance. Who doesn’t jubilate? Who doesn’t shed tears? Men do not quarrel nor come to blows; they do not disgrace God’s name, living in the light of God, being in peace with each other. Earth belongs to heaven, heaven unites with earth. Man is the cord that bonds the heaven and the earth. Thanks to man’s sanctity, thanks to his renewal, heaven hides from earth no more, earth keeps still to heaven no more. Men do not quarrel nor come to blows; they do not disgrace God’s name, living in the light of God, being in peace with each other. Men do not quarrel nor come to blows; they do not disgrace God’s name, living in the light of God, being in peace with each other. The air is brisk, the dense fog gone, the sun shines through and through. The air is brisk, the dense fog gone, the sun shines through and through. The air is brisk, the dense fog gone, the sun shines through and through. The air is brisk, the dense fog gone, the sun shines through and through. Faces of humanity wreathed in a smile. Hidden in their hearts, sweetness goes for miles. Men do not quarrel nor come to blows; they do not disgrace God’s name, living in the light of God, being in peace with each other. Men do not quarrel nor come to blows; they do not disgrace God’s name, living in the light of God, being in peace with each other, being in peace with each other, being in peace with each other.

I have flown in many aircraft of all sizes over the years but I never cease to be in awe of the view I see when I'm way up in the sky.

I created this in Photoshop!

“Siamo inglesi, Charlie, lo sai: nati per comandare e per soffrire!”

From the movie: A GREAT VINTAGE

"We are English, Charlie, you know: born to command and to suffer!"

The victory of Italy last night in Webley awakened patriotic pride in us and undermined the certainties of success on the part of English friends who too soon had put the victory of the European football championships on file.

The arrogance of the Albionics made the London Final even sweeter but I, as a great fan of the Beatles music, had a moment of compassion and my exultation was very measured .... Beatles, Rolling Stone, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Genesis etc ... were great friends from my youth.

O Advento (do latim Adventus: "chegada", do verbo Advenire: "chegar a") é o primeiro tempo do Ano litúrgico, o qual antecede o Natal.

Advent (from the Latin word advenio, meaning "to come", "the coming of Christ our saviour") is a holy season of the Christian church, the period of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Christ, also known outside the Church as the season of Christmas. It is the beginning of the Western Christian year and commences on Advent Sunday. The Eastern churches begin the year on 1 September. The progression of Advent may be marked with an Advent calendar reckoning Advent to start on 1 December, a practice introduced by German Lutherans.

Advent (Adventus) is the Latin word for "coming", and is the exact Latin equivalent for the Greek word parousia, commonly used in reference to the Second Coming. Christians believe that the season of Advent serves a dual reminder of the original waiting that was done by the Hebrews for the birth of their Messiah as well as the waiting that Christians today endure as they await the second coming of Jesus.

Version from ADESTE FIDELES

Words:John Wade

Translated from Latim by Frederick Oakeley and William Brooke (19 th century)

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,

O come ye, O come ye, to Bethlehem.

Come and behold Him, born the King of angels;

O come, let us adore Him,

O come, let us adore Him,

O come, let us adore Him,

Christ the Lord.

True God of true God, Light from Light Eternal,

Lo, He shuns not the Virgin’s womb;

Son of the Father, begotten, not created;

Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation;

O sing, all ye citizens of heaven above!

Glory to God, all glory in the highest;

See how the shepherds, summoned to His cradle,

Leaving their flocks, draw nigh to gaze;

We too will thither bend our joyful footsteps;

Lo! star led chieftains, Magi, Christ adoring,

Offer Him incense, gold, and myrrh;

We to the Christ Child bring our hearts’ oblations.

Child, for us sinners poor and in the manger,

We would embrace Thee, with love and awe;

Who would not love Thee, loving us so dearly?

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning;

Jesus, to Thee be glory given;

Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing.

Title taken from a Nine Inch Nails song as it seemed appropriate.

Tim Ball's comment about War of the Worlds made me think of Jeff Wayne's musical version and this line:

I felt no fear, only a wild, trembling exultation, as I ran up the hill towards, the motionless monster.

Wow! I got explored, I guess I should expand a little then. The shot was taken within Otterburn Training Area. There are tanks around used as target practise, some are in better states than others. This was the best looking that was accessible, from one side it looked sad, from the other not bad at all, I decided on the three quarter angle to show off the duality of it, favouring the better side. I also went for a high shot (at my tripods maximum height) to show the mist that was rising around me.

I'd missed sunset trying to find the place so resorted to HDR to try and salvage something from the 90 minute drive out there and was pleasantly surprised by the results, the sky colour showed through well and I tried to keep the HDR processing natural enough balanced but surreal enough to show off the scene to it's best.

Thank you everyone for the favourites and comments, made the last day of my holiday very enjoyable :)

beholding

ceaseless watcher, behold your triumph,

apathetic eyes prying into weary flesh,

the beholding, isn't it an accurate name?

you have seized what little I had left.

and as I step onto the street,

I feel them stare into my every thought,

every dark impulse, every light deceit,

all this and more finally, horribly caught.

what else does a man have except his mind?

what can he depend on but privacy in contemplation?

the recorder clicks on, I hear the tape start to wind,

even now you record my damnation.

watching, watching, always watching,

from the eyes of the birds, from cameras mounted high,

I have never known such existential pain,

than to lose the little solitude I prized in my life.

and I have never felt such loathing,

and I have never felt such fear,

I cast my thoughts away, unknowing,

and it is with vile exultation you hear.

The southern end of the Pechersk Lavra monastery complex in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, viewed from one of its higher altitude reaches near the Great Lavra Bell Tower.

The domes in the distance, right of shot, are at the site of the Far Caves, and belong to the Bell Tower of the Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God (1761); in front of it is the black-roofed Church of the Conception of St Anne (originally 17th Century, expanded 19th Century).

In the foreground, left of shot, is the Bell Tower of the Near Caves (1763) and below and behind it the Church of Exultation of the Cross (1700), which is at the site of the Near Caves.

Behind it all is the architecturally rather undistinguished looking Paton Bridge (1953) and the towers of the less fashionable but very populous Left Bank of Kyiv, across the River Dnipro from the historic core.

Kyiv Pechersk Lavra (Ukrainian: Києво-Печерська лавра; Russian: Киeво-Печерская лавра), also known as the Kiev Monastery of the Caves, was founded as a cave monastery in 1051, since which time it has usually been a preeminent centre of Orthodox Christianity in Eastern Europe. Together with the Saint Sophia Cathedral a few kilometres away, it is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among others, the remains of Imperial Prime Minister Peter Stolypin, assassinated at the Opera in the city centre, lie at rest here.

While remaining a major cultural and tourist attraction, the monastery has been active again as a religious community since the 1980s, having been shut down by the Soviet authorities in 1928 and turned into a museum-park. Nowadays, there are now over 100 monks in residence.

According to the Primary Chronicle, in the early 11th century, Anthony, an Orthodox monk from Esphigmenon monastery on Mount Athos, originally from Liubech of the Principality of Chernihiv, returned to Rus' and settled in Kiev as a missionary of monastic tradition to Kievan Rus'. He chose a cave at the Berestov Mount that overlooked the River Dnipro and a community of disciples soon grew. Prince Iziaslav I of Kiev ceded the whole mount to the Anthonite monks who founded a monastery built by architects from Constantinople.

Currently, the jurisdiction over the site is divided between the state museum, National Kyiv-Pechersk Historic-Cultural Preserve, and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate as the site of the chief monastery of that Church and the residence of its leader, Onufrius, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine.

On a quiet, early morning in a small Italian town, the sun just rising, I met this dog. From his backyard he was observing what was going on outside on the street. Actually, at this time of the day, nothing was going on out there, except me. Thus, he watched me stoically, and the tranquility and sereneness of the situation made me stop and stand still and return his look. Then, an early car came down the street, and the dog's head turned to catch sight of it and slowly followed it down to the other side. After the car had disappeared, the dog's attention returned on me who was still standing there, fascinated.

Of all the hustle and bustle of the world outside, of all its noise and colours, its exultation and affliction, I thought, what does he know? All he can observe are the people passing by, most of them he will know, and once in a while a stranger like me. And the cars. And sometimes, I suppose, other dogs. That's about it. Like in Sokrates' allegory of the cave: what this dog perceives of the world is only the shadows it casts to his backyard.

Like everybody of us.

I don't know his name.

I call him Plato.

I am SHE

found beneath

the black depths of the waves.

Pounding and resounding

as they pummel their furious fists

upon the wrecked shores.

I challenge you

to rise up

in defiance

and

meet me!

I am SHE

found upon

the crescendo of the hurricane.

Screeching and beseeching

my howls, the gasping final throes

of my sublime small death.

I summon you

to lose

yourself entirely

within

my rapture!

I am SHE

found inside

the fiery swell of the volcano.

Abrupt, as I erupt,

my burning passion belching forth,

in flaming torrents to devour you.

I implore you

to soar

in exultation

from

my ashes.

I am SHE

found upon

The fracturing roar of an earthquake.

Weeping and reaping

as I gather up my fruitful harvest

embracing my beloved multitude.

I entreat you

to feast

upon the

sustenance

Of my tears.

I am SHE

found within

the last lights of a dying star.

Entwining while declining

as their dazzling final flourish

illuminates their oblivion.

I dare you

to observe

the power

of

my majesty!

I AM SHE!

Poem by VLS

“Close your eyes and turn your face into the wind.

Feel it sweep along your skin in an invisible ocean of exultation.

Suddenly, you know you are alive.”

― Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration

From October of last year. We always get the most spectacular dawns in the fall and Winter here.

The wintertime amaryllis produced two stalks, each with four blossoms. After these wilted, the plant has been growing leaves that are now more than two feet in length, and arrayed in an expansive gesture of exultation. For this photo, I placed the plant in front of the orange doors of the litchen cabinet, with the white space between the doors being a visual metaphor suggesting a vertical ascension.

My exultation is the night. I much prefer it to the day which seems so ordinary in comparison. There is just something about the night that embraces me and speaks to me. As I was waiting for the shutter on this long exposure in the warm night air, I remembered how, even as a child, my parents used to call me a vampire. I shared a room with my early bird sister and used to drive her mad with my after midnight chatter. I can't help it, it has always been my nature.

This is ambient light and not much of it, just some house lights across the river about 200 feet away and the stars. Had to do a few shots as the dogs kept walking into frame. But how could I leave them behind, they're night owls too.
