NORTH HOLLYWOOD - A fire at a Goodwill store in North Hollywood broke out early November 24, 2016. The fire broke out around 12:17 a.m. in the 5800 block of Lankershim Boulevard. The blaze was knocked down in about 20 minutes. No one was inside the store at the time of the fire. The cause is under investigation.

Colorado & Southern Railway E5 9953 at Denver, Colorado on August 26, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built as CB&Q 9909, named SILVER BULLET, in March 1940 (c/n 970) on EMD Order E278-A, it was the power for the Silver Streak Zephyr. It was sold to Burlington's subsidiary Colorado & Southern November 9, 1955, becoming C&S 9953. It was traded in to EMD as credit for an SD40 October 31, 1967 and scrapped.

A snatched shot from an oncoming bus on a poor day for photography, but it had escaped me once already. This is one of four Es to top up Merton (44 and 77, I think, but it's a dead cert they'll pitch up on anything Merton runs, as shown).
Not that long ago, this bus was based at Stockwell (SW) and worked the 77 and 87. Now, it’s been transferred to River Road (RR) and staying on the 104, though it does stray onto the 5 occasionally.
This is also a route set for a big change; from September, it will lose the Lonsdale Avenue - Manor Park section to the new 304 and be re-routed to Beckton Station. Which will turn this into a tiny route with double deckers.
For now, SN13CJJ (E278) is at the Stratford bus Station stand awaiting passenger pickup before heading to Manor Park via Lonsdale Avenue and East Ham.

Colorado & Southern Railway E5 9950A at Denver, Colorado on August 26, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in March 1940 (c/n 1035) on Order E278, retired March 15, 1968 and traded to EMD on an order for SD40's. This was the only E5A built for the C&S, the rest were acquired second hand from parent CB&Q. At the same time, the FW&D acquired its only E5A, 9980A. Both units were lettered for their Zephyr assignment, the Texas Zephyr. This is what became known as a "Phase I" E5, the major differences were in the roof grills, side cab vent, steam generator vents, front pilot/anti-climber/coupler arrangement, and the rear bulkhead ribs. It was named "Silver Racer", and the E5B (# 9950B) delivered with it was named "Silver Steed".

The painted images on the dinos’ surface are arranged in five bands. The lower three bands are decorated with real animals as lions, panthers, rams, birds, boar etc., and mythical sirens.
The second band is painted with floral motifs. The images on the dinos’ shoulder describe two different scenes.
On this side the Gorgons are pursuing Perseus after the falling of their sister Medusa killed by the Athenian hero. Athena and Hermes observe the fleeing Perseus.
On the other side there is a fight involving hoplites between chariots.
