In Dzogchen Buddhism the story goes that one is like a sleeper who uses a diamond as a pillow (our spiritual potential) and only needs to “awaken” to that fact.
It is NEVER too late.
Conquest of mind is the greatest victory.” “Man jita, jag jita— If you conquer mind, you have conquered the world.” (Hindi Proverb)
Saraswati, Sri Swami Sivananda (2013-06-14). MIND - ITS MYSTERIES AND CONTROL (Kindle Locations 2676-2677). . Kindle Edition.

Khawa Karpo ཁ་བ་དཀར་པོ་། 6740m
Across the gorge as you approach Dechen from Tsakhalho and Hongsan, there are truly dramatic views of the Kawa Karpo glaciers. The astonishing main glacier of Mount5 Kawa Karpo deceives the eye, appearing to plunge downwards almost to the level of the Dza chu རྫ་ཆུ་ (Mekong) in the gorge below. This mighty watershed range has 13 snow peaks forming a north-south alignment.
Among them, Mount Kawa Karpo, the highest, is 6740m, and to its north is Mount Dradul Wangchuk (6379m ). Immediately south of Kawa Karpo, there is a glacial protuberance known as Phakpa Neten Chudruk, and to its south Mount Pawo Pamo (6000 m),followed in succession by the spectacular five-peaked crown of Mount Gyelwa Riknga (5471 m), and two lesser peaks known as Chugen-je and Tsela Nyenpo. Kawa Karpo itself is conceived as a male protector deity and Men Tsunmo as the corresponding female consort.
The range is an important focal point for pilgrimage, revered as one of the 25 important meditation sites associated with Padmasambhava in Kham and Amdo. Specifically, this mountain range symbolizesthe body- aspect of buddha-speech. In the past its sanctuaries and hermitages have been a stronghold of the Nyingmapa school. Vairocana gave teachings on Dzogchen to his followers at Tsawarong, to the northwest of the range; and there are branches of Katok Monastery in its environs. The most renowned figure in this lineage was Kawakarpowa Namka Gyatso who, with his teacher Khedrup Yeshe Gyeltsen, expounded the Katok lineage throughout this extreme southern region of Kham. www.footprinttravelguides.com/c/2848/tibet/&Action=pr...

Drida Zelmogang range དྲི་ དོ་ ཟེལ་ མོ་ གང་ རི་རྒྱུད།
Upper Zhi-chu Valley Following the Zhi-chu River upstream to its source in the Drida Zellmogang range. This is the name given to the highland region forming a watershed between the upper Dri chu འབྲི་ཆུ་ (Yangtze) and the upper Nyag chu ཉག་ཆུ་ (Yalong). En route it passes through Khorlomdo and Rida, where there are small Sakyapa monasteries, and the Kasado gorge. Khorlomdo, 28 km from Derge Gonchen, has an old copper image of Jowo Shakyamuni in its assembly hall, which is now maintained by some 50 monks. Two 3-4 day trekking routes lead from Khorlomdo to Dzogchen Monastery, crossing the Trola Range (Chola Range) via Henak La pass (4950 m) and via Le La pass (4390 m). The former passes in close proximity to Mount Dorje Ziltrom (5816 m), which is one of the highest peaks of the Trola Range (Chola Range). The latter, which is the old trade route to Dzachuka, passes through Galen Gonpa (3700 m), the seat of Namkhai Norbu, who resides in Italy and has established an international network of centres, know collectively as the Dzogchen Community. www.footprinttravelguides.com/c/2848/tibet/&Action=pr...

Yarchen Monastery (tib ཡ་ཆེན་སྒར་ wylie ya chen sgar) lies 400 km west of Chengdu in Sichuan province in China, in the old Tibetan province of Kham. It is reported to have 10 000 monks and nuns, making it possibly the largest monastery in the world. Larung Gar is even larger, but is considered a monastic encampment rather than a monastery. Most of the inhabitants are nuns. It was established in 1985.
Many monks and nuns came to Yarchen Gar when Larung Gar was partly demolished in 2001
The abbot, Achuk Rinpoche is one of the seniormost Nyingma masters in Tibet and he practices mainly Dzogchen. He teaches in both Tibetan and Chinese language and attracts students from all over China.
Due to Chinese restrictions on religious practice most of the monks and nuns are not officially recognized and live in fear of being thrown out. Monks are not allowed to enter the nuns' quarters on the West side of the river.
Due to the remoteness of the institute and the bad condition of roads leading there, Yarchen Gar sees very few tourists. In the past years officials have often prevented foreigners from entering the institute or staying there overnight. Tourist guides will not take foreigners to the nuns' side of the river even though there are no legal or real cultural reasons against that. There is a simple hotel and restaurant next to the gate.

Dzochen Rudam Orgyen Samten Choling Gonpa རྫོགས་ཆེན་དགོན་པ་ Dzogchen Monastery (Tib. rdzogs chen dgon pa) is one of the six great monasteries of the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.
Concealed valley of Rudam Kyitram, dominated to the southwest by the jagged snow peaks of Mount Dorje Ziltrom 5816 m. The monastery was founded in 1684-1685 on the advice of the Fifth Dalai Lama, by the charismatic the First Dzogchen Pema Rigdzin (1625-1697), and it was subsequently maintained by his students, including Zhechen Rabjam Tenpei Gyeltsen, and by his successive incarnations. Among the latter, the Second Dzogchen Gyurme Tekchok Tenzin (1699-1758) is known to have inspired the king of Derge to construct the famous Derge Parkhang, the Third Dzogchen Ngedon Tenzin Zangpo (1759-1792) built 13 hermitages, colleges and mantra-wheels, the Fourth Dzogchen Migyur Namkei Dorje (b 1793) presided over the monastery when its greatest college was founded, and the Fifth Dzogchen Tubten Chokyi Dorje (1872-1935) increased its branches to over 200 throughout Kham, Amdo and Central Tibet. The mother monastery itself had a population of 1000 monks. The Sixth Dzogchen Jikdrel Jangchub Dorje (1935-1959) died tragically during the resistance to the Chinese occupation of East Tibet, and his reliquary is even now revered in the main temple. The Seventh Dzogchen Rinpoche lives in Karnataka in South India, where he has constructed a branch of the monastery. Meanwhile, at the mother monastery in Kham, an alternative Dzogchen Rinpoche has recently been recognized. www.footprinttravelguides.com/c/2848/tibet/&Action=pr...
