Usually I'm on my tours to catch the miracles of nature and their beauty on my photos. I don't want to do that today. Instead I want to show You a forest that I saw on a tour to the czech republic. What You see here is the czech side of mt. Winterberg. What You see here too is, that this forest is dying. The mainly part of the trees is dead already.
This view almost broke my heart. This is happening when humans try to take control of everything. Control is a illusion what is not working out, not in case of a forest, not of a virus and for sure not of the climate. So fare, most of the time we tried, in the long run we made the situation worse than before. What is calming me down is my confidence that nature will find a way to get in balance again no matter what we do ore not do, because nature always found a way. But perhaps without us.
Normalerweise bin ich unterwegs, um die Wunder der Natur und deren Schönheit in meinen Bilder festzuhalten. Das möchte ich heute nicht tun. Stattdessen möchte ich Euch einen Wald zeigen den ich bei einem Ausflug in der Tschechischen Republik gesehen habe. Was Ihr hier seht, ist die tschechische Seite des Winterberges. Was Ihr ebenso seht ist, dass dieser Wald stirbt. Der überwiegende Teil der Bäume ist schon tod.
Der Anblick hat mir fast das Herz gebrochen. Das passiert, wenn der Mensch versucht alles kontrolieren zu wollen. Kontrolle ist eine illusion die nicht funktioniert, nicht beim Wald, nicht bei einem Virus und mit Sicherheit nicht beim Klima. Bisher haben wir den Zustand durch unseren Eingriff meist langfristig verschlechtert. Was mich beruhigt ist die Überzeugung, dass die Natur einen Weg finden wird, wieder ins Gleichgewicht zu kommen, egal, was wir hier veranstalten, denn Natur hat immer einen Weg gefunden. Nur eben möglicherweise ohne uns.

Tragedy has struck, my beloved D5600 has developed several faults at once thus I have had to send it back, and it's refund or find another. The LV was completely distorted, the menu screen was faulty and the focus was no longer sharp. Seems the circuitry was starting to fall apart. It'll be at least a week before I hear back from the supplier but they were good enough to pay for the shipping as it was well within the 3 year guarantee.
Thus I decided to go a bit rhetoric 80's whilst digging through my archives, this one I took in 2019 with my old D3400 outside of a technical college in Berlin city. There were these multi coloured cuboids all slowly changing colour, so setting this to a longer exposure time wasn't working, the 1 second was to try and define all the alternative colours, without them blending into one.
I exploded the saturation and was greeted with, having originally tweaked the WB, with a colourful contradiction of dystopia and colours into one.

I always like this dystopian but colorful sorta aesthetic and I realize I do this quite a bit in my own personal rl work, thought I'd do a shot in world that mimics that.
The behemoth of poison and destruction is too big to stop.
We are all caught up in the process of destroying our planet.
I took artistic liberty when processing this shot, but the main fact is incontrovertible. Sadly, that smoke acid is real.

I read recently that the capture of an image was science and the processing art. I'm not sure I'd put such a clear definition as that on the actvity of photography but perhaps they did have a point. This shot was taken during a return to Low Newton on a mild, calm afternoon, it did not look like this, nor did it make me feel at the time the way this image makes me feel now. Currently I'm sat at home on a cold wet day pondering the events of the last few years, playing sporadically with photoshop and came up with this. I believe I've been thinking far too much to be honest so I'm off for a walk with the dog.
She runs out of the sewer, gumboots flopping on the grate and jumps high sliding the deck beneath her feet grinding the rusted rail toward the river banks.
Pennywise is gonna be pissed when he realises she stole his radio transmittor.
