We recently had a very short stay over the weekend in Palmerston North, so I decided to make the most of the opportunity to check out a new rail location. Palmerston North's rail yard is nicely flanked by two road bridges that provide a nice point of view from both ends of the yard. This shot was taken from the northern end. The departure/arrival track in the foreground produced a very, very nice looking curve on which to plonk a train. Thankfully the electrification poles are on the opposite side of the track, not obstructing the train.
29670 Saab J29F Tunnan. Delivered 1955 to F9 Säve. J29 Tunnan (The Barrel) was built by Saab 1950-1956. Saab built 661 aircraft and at the peak of production they finished one J29 per day.

The DX class was built by General Electric's Erie, PA plant and entered service from 1972. From 1988 the DX class received a series of modifications and with new motors and Brightstar fitted were classified DXB and DXC. 126 is the only train traversing the scenic and rustic North Auckland Line to Whangarei in daylight.
