Dwarf mistletoes are small parasitic plants that require a living host to survive. In this case the host is Douglas Fir.
This is a trillium species. It's native range is not in my area but I luckily live near Cornell Botanical Gardens and they had a few growing there.
I hope everyone enjoys this image! :D
I received a parcel at the end of last year, a box full of bulbs, I don't know where they came from but as no one has claimed them I decided to plant them in. There are these lovely dwarf Irises, purple crocus and one more that hasn't come out yet.

Pennisetum alopecuroides (Chinese Pennisetum, dwarf fountain grass, foxtail fountain grass, swamp foxtail grass) is a species of perennial grass native to Asia and Australia.
Fountain Grass is one of the most popular grasses. The 'Hameln' selection forms an upright mound of arching green leaves, bearing bottlebrush spikes of silvery-white flowers that turn to buff or tan as they dry.
'Hameln' refers to the German town of Hamelin, most famous for the folk tale of the Pied Piper.
I noticed a couple coming toward me as I started on a hike in Great Basin National Park. It struck me how tiny the people were in comparison to the towering Wheeler Peak. The grandeur that nature gives us is overwhelming and reminds us of our place on the planet!
Great Basin National Park is located in eastern Nevada close to the Utah border. The park includes most of the South Snake mountains.
