This is a closeup of two DVD drivewheels, driving the lensmount. The white wheel is the interesting part: It actually consists of two wheels, which are connected by the tiny spring you can see in the topleft. By this, the connection to the other wheels always stays tight, even if the wheels show some wear ofter long use.
The shot was taken in available light, using an macroinverter and an old wideangle-lens.
Due to the open aperture, the DOF is VERY shallow. Needed some cropping and color-correction.
(46/365) For 119 pictures in 2019 #33 "disappearing technology". This is a DVD (not a CD, which is disappearing even faster) of a concert by some appropriately ancient icons of a bygone era, Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood live at Madison Square Garden.

Its DVD night again and the lego spacemen want to watch Star Wars. The Stormtrooper is a bit upset, as this has been the legomen's choice for the past 10 weeks, before that it was Return of the Jedi.

Yellow, red, blue and white poster boards surrounded this shot. Kind of fun to move the strobe around inside the cube to see the different color effects. WATER DROP TIP: Mix water with corn syrup to help shape and hang water drops.
M42 macro lens. Extension tube. Snooted Vivitar 285 at quarter power. F11.5 for the M42 lens.

Spaghetti Western DVDs (and others) are going for very low prices in charity shops in Chester. This is not unusual; I see low secondhand prices everywhere, as people increasingly switch to streaming services. Once all the DVDs have gone, the cost of streaming will go through the roof.

Drops of olive oil in water covering a DVD (and another two similar shots in the Comments). Spectrum created by shining the bulb from an office angle-poise lamp sideways across the disc. I stirred the water to break up the bubbles a bit, hence the higher shutter speed.

Years ago I found a few DVD's in the park. They were wet and had possibly been there all winter. The colours soon faded once I got them home.
SUGGESTION: Allow video to load all the way before you hit 'play'. You'll miss some neat animation if you don't.
I designed and animated these characters for the company I used to work for, Primal Screen, in 2006. It was for Primal's DVD Show Reel. This has won several design awards. I loved working on these guys. Loads of fun. I animated them in pencil and paper and then had the drawings scanned into Photoshop, composited together in After Effects, and outputted QT movies into Flash. There, animator Joe Kubesheski traced over my rough pencil animation to create the final look of the characters and their movements. He did some tweaking here and there, as well. Overall design and concept by Rick Newcomb. Sound design by Stephen Mank. He's the man.
I originally uploaded this on YouTube, but DANG. This looks much, much better. I'm impressed. I know that a lot of people are down on Flickr for adding videos, but hey, I'm okay with it if they can keep the quality of the videos looking like this.

For Christmas from my sister/brother in law (Toy Story Trilogy) and parents (everything else). Mom figured I needed some more movies to watch while recovering from my ankle surgery.
Another little clear water drop on a DVD, with hand-held brightly flashing LED lights above giving the colours.
Seems a long time since I shot DVDs! This is a small 'gem-shaped' piece of hard plastic and its reflection in a spectrum. There's another in the Comments.
