Very similar to the Common Moorhen this is a slightly more bulky species which lacks the flank stripes but retains the white outer tail and undertail coverts

Wikipedia: The dusky broadbill (Corydon sumatranus) is a species of bird in the family Eurylaimidae, the broadbills. The dusky broadbill is found in moist and dry tropical and subtropical broadleaf forests, tropical swamps, and cloud forests with an upper elevation limit of 2000 meters in Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Singapore, as well as the islands of Sumatra and Borneo.
Conservation status: Least Concern
Since these monkeys are endangered it was a pleasant surprise to find them at Railay Beach in Krabi where this was taken. I have also seen them as far north as Kaeng Krachan. The two locations are hundreds of miles apart.
I am going to the bustling, chaotic, noisy, smelly, but energetic, vibrant, exotic megacity of Bangkok for a week. Once again I will see you on the flip side. God Bless and happy shooting!

The Dusky Moorhen feeds in the water and on land on algae, water plants and grasses, as well as seeds, fruits, molluscs and other invertebrates. It does not dive when feeding; its tail is always visible above the water when upended.

Saw it going down to the Trelissick beach on the last evening there and had to push the shutter button . Should not really have been looking all about as the way down is an area where cows roam and we all know they leave their mark wherever they roam !!

The dusky eagle-owl (Bubo coromandus) Found in forest and forest edge, plantation. Prefers watered and well wooded areas. Mango tree groves, and old tamarind and other densely foliaged trees are preferred.
It is a species of owl in the family Strigidae that is widespread in Bangladesh, China, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, and Thailand and listed as being of least concern by IUCN.
The nesting season is from November to April.
The nest is made of sticks in the fork of the trunk of a large tree preferably near water and often in the vicinity of human habitation.
