This was probably the most novel and tasty dumpling of the evening. Maple-sweet ground walnut filling inside a sorghum wheat dough. I can't imagine the amount of handiwork involved to make the outsides look like walnuts!! It was very (American) autumnal.
A cooking experiment, chicken and dumplings, with what seem to be German style dumplings. The soup part was excellent, the dumplings need work.
Korean dumplings are an acquired taste.

This dumpling shop just opened on our corner. The spot had been an empty storefront for over a year when the franchise Tous les Jours bakery closed. It is nice to see some signs of life trying to get back to normal.

Butter for dumplings is to be put gently with a tablespoon on a surface of the boiling water for few seconds and when ready they are light and fluffy. Served with cinnamon butter and sprinkled with brown sugar :-)))))

After a frantic 24 hours of packing and throwing things away we were finally out of our Taipei apartment and well on the way to Taichung to live.
No one could be bothered cooking that night so we went to a local place that sells dumplings. I could learn to really love dumplings except that every time I get over confident with eating them I burn my mouth biting into them. I never seem to learn.
Dumplings pictured includes a mix of the meat variety and Cabbage with mushroom variety purchased from Aga Deli, Wollongong at 30 pierogi for $14.50
To cook just boil in salted water and pan fry in butter
