A dearly missed family friend, on the memorable occasion when he hauled a sizeable Northern Pike out of Desert Lake. From the shore, using, I kid you not, a Ronco Pocket Fisherman. That fish is bigger than it looks - Mike was around six and a half feet tall.

A former Royal Marine deployed in Southeast Asia (Malaysia, as I recall), achieving the rank of Major, he later became the Officer Commanding the Marine Cadet Detachment at Crawley (UK) Unit in the 1970's. Mike was also involved with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award program for youth. He died in 2009 after a protracted battle with Motor Neuron Disease.

Another hidden gem from the drawer of negatives in the parents' basement. Although now part of our family folklore, I believe this and the photo next to it in my photostream are the only record. We ate the fish, but it was bland and bony.

Plastic mail-order camera circa 1979 + some paper-backed B&W rollfilm. Developed at home by my father, and scanned by him some 33 years or so later. This one has been contrast adjusted, heavily de-spotted, had a light leak at the left side partially repaired, and has been cropped.
