Kieron and Milo met at the New York Film Academy where Kieron directed Milo in his first film. After graduation Milo spent some time in LA, working as a waiter while trying to break into film while Kieron stayed in New York working on various indie projects. Milo and Kieron bump into each other again on the set of Fashion TV which Kieron is directing while he raises funds for his next film and which Milo hosts. Cabot, who is in charge of hair and make up on the production, confesses his passion for Milo to Kieron (possibly also to ‘claim’ him as he feels a bit threatened my Kieron and Milo’s ‘history’) and Kieron engineers things so Cabot and Milo are often thrown together... it doesn't take long for love to blossom!

One of the reasons why I wanted to attend the Integrity Toys Luxe Life Convention was because of the unveiling of the new male body and the relaunch of the new Menswear collection which we now know as The Monarchs. I am under the impression that this line is more than just a spin-off. The dolls are more like male counterparts of the Fashion Royalty line with characters both old and new. I am saying this because in the past years Integrity Toys would only release about two to three male characters in a collection but with The Monarchs they showed at least seven prototypes which is about the same amount of dolls we get with Fashion Royalty and NU.Face.
The first doll in the line is Undercover Declan Wake. I believe he is a “Close-Up” doll which is usually a basic doll in lingerie but in Declan’s case he is in his boxer briefs. He looks like a model out of a Dsquared2 fashion show which is an idea that I’m responding well to. Obviously. I actually really love the accessories that he comes with especially the fanny pack with the working miniature buckle closure. I don’t think we’ve ever had that before with Integrity Toys or with any other doll company. I wished that he came with sunglasses and a baseball cap like how they styled those Dsquared2 models on the runway. I just thought that we need more from him since he’s only in his boxer briefs. As for the hairstyle I’m not really vibing with the idea of a slicked back hair. Not for this skin tone. I would rather have his hair flocked all the way or have him with curly hair. Pretty much he’s similar to the OOAK Monarch doll Noah Faraday with the Ace/Riot face sculpt only that he had dreadlocks. I bet you Noah was a prototype and was considered for Undercover but they chose Declan over him instead. Just speculating.
By the way as you have noticed Declan has kept his name as he transitioned from the Color Infusion line to the Fashion Royalty universe (I like to think there’s a Fashion Royalty bubble that these dolls live in LOL) and it’s only fitting because it’s such a good name and it was actually a fan request. Also I know that a lot of fans love to see this face sculpt used for FR. Once again IT fulfilled those wishes! While Declan has kept his name, most of those Color Infusion characters did not. As for his skin tone this is the first time we’re seeing Declan in FR Black and he does look like a person with a mixed descent like a Boris Kodjoe or a Pierre Abena (look him up on Instagram. He’s hot!).
Aside from his hairstyle I’m not too crazy about his face design. I haven’t really been a fan of the design style that Integrity Toys have been giving their male dolls since 2011 specifically with FR:Homme. Those eye lines have become thinner and thinner over time. I would really love for them to go back to the days of Rock Ringmaster, Style Strategy Lukas and Playing It Cool Darius. I really miss those face styles because they coordinated well with the females. For a line relaunch these dolls need something fresh and new. Something we’ve never seen before. Not these recycled face designs that we’ve already seen from Color Infusion and Jem and the Holograms. Not these face designs that lack expression and lack character. Focusing on the fashions is great but I hope they don’t neglect the faces. I’ve said this before doll collectors are usually drawn to a good face no matter how bad the fashion is and they’ll usually buy it. Tantric Lukas was such a hit even though people had a lot of reservations with what he was wearing. It was his face that sold it. That Rock Ringmaster brows and Style Strategy eye combo worked well in his favor.
Let’s talk about the new body. First off I have to say those promo photos of Declan did not showcase the body in the best light. There was too much thigh gap, his brief was placed too high it looked like he was wearing a diaper and his poses were awkward. The body definitely looks much better in hand. This is an all-new sculpt. It doesn’t share parts from the older male body parts. The hands and the feet sculpts are totally new which at first I thought those older sculpts didn’t need to be changed as they were already great sculpts. Now with this new male body we have hands that are more masculine because even though the older ones were great, they were kind of dainty for the male dolls. Declan in particular has a left hand that can hold his bag securely that none of the older ones can. Decidedly he does not come with extra hands which is a bummer. While I like the feet sculpt of the older male body I also like the new one too. The only thing is that they are narrower.
The most improved feature with this new male body is the chest articulation as it can do a hunch pose, lean back and forth and rotate side to side. A feature that I want for the females, Exhibit A , but can only be done manually and not automatically. Like the current FR and NU.Face bodies this new male body is very stylized. All three bodies now share a similar aesthetic with the square-ish knees and the pronounced clavicle which was what I was expecting. As much as I want this body to be anatomically accurate it really isn’t. There are definitions of the body that I feel are unnecessary most especially the rib cage which I don’t see in men standing upright. It just makes the doll look emaciated. The back muscles don’t seem to be accurate either. I feel some definitions are random. The abdominal muscles are too big that it seems to me they just sculpted it that way to fill up the space of the entire lower torso. With that the lower torso of the older male body appears to be more pleasing to the eyes. The square-ish butt is strange it looks like the cheeks were pinched together. They should take cues from Mattel’s Harley Ken Pivotal body. That was actually executed better.
So not only they sculpted a bulge between his legs but they also sculpted an outline of the testicles. Because, why not? With all of the exaggerated muscle definitions of the body it seems like they neglected his upper thighs. I would love to see more muscle definition on the inner thighs and I think they should add more width to fill up the gap between the thighs. While there’s an improvement with the chest articulation there’s not much improvement with the elbows. I think they could have carved out that bulgy lower arm in a way that can make the elbows bend further. Because it took almost four years for this new male body to be finally released you would think that it’s going to be perfect. It’s not. There are a lot of improvements that needs to be done here.
In terms of whether this new male body can share fashions from the older body some pieces fit and some don’t. The waist is smaller, the hips are narrower and the thighs are thinner. A lot of us did pray that they are able to share garments but like the female body during the 2013 FR/FR2 merge this was a déjà vu moment for the male body. Although I have to say this wasn’t a drastic of a change as I expected since there isn’t much of a difference between the bodies in terms of height and frame.
As much as I’m hyped up about the line, I’m somehow underwhelmed due to the absence of the Homme characters. I was expecting for the return of Pierre, Francisco, Darius in particular as well as Takeo but instead we got recycled characters from a retired line. I do understand that Color Infusion is Vaughn Sawyer’s baby and that line had some gorgeous male sculpts that can’t go to waste. But this is just between us… There were face sculpts that no one likes that made an appearance at the presentation and I’m totally against those sculpts making it into The Monarchs line. *cough*Perry*cough*Romain*cough* For the sake of better sales can we just retire those awful sculpts please? Integrity Toys I know you can do much better. I know you can.

Now I didn’t purchase a lot of Style Lab items from the 2018 Luxe Life Convention like how I did in the past which was something that I regretted realizing how beautiful the Build-A-Doll Poppy Parker was (you have to buy the entire collection to complete the doll). So for 2019 I’m already hatching a plan and will be saving a lot of money so I can get every single doll that I want for this year’s Integrity Toys Convention. Here are my top three dolls from the 2018 The Industry Style Lab: The Miss Behave Collection!
From L-R Janay - So this is my first Janay in, I believe, her second face sculpt. The original version of Janay was used for the Eve doll for the Life Size movie in 2000, just a fun fact. While her head is a shrunken down version of the sculpt from the Janay line I noticed that they haven’t really cleaned up the face sculpt when they were in the process of shrinking it down for The Industry line as it has some scar-like marks on her cheek and an indentation on the nose. So I wasn’t really sure if it was just the copy that I got but as soon as I got a second one I compared them and they both had the same imperfections on the same spot of their faces. For the revamp of The Industry line I was quite surprised by the inclusion of older characters created by Integrity Toys especially Janay in this version because I wasn’t sure if she fits in with the rest. But as soon as I realized, with her resemblance to Darla Daley from the Poppy Parker line and with The Industry being a Poppy Parker spin-off I have come to fully embrace her. Alright gurl! You can stay! Here is Janay wearing the dress from the Graphic Content fashion pack.
Alysa - Now Alysa went full on head-to-toe Cara Delevigne wearing a Dsquared2 Fall 2012 Ready-to-Wear inspired ensemble called Hot Chick. This particular fashion was what I have been waiting (well a lot of us were waiting) for IT to create in doll scale for years! Now I believe this is the third face sculpt for Alysa originally created for the Color Infusion line. While it is a shrunken down version and technically a new face sculpt, it is still marked 2012 on the back of her head. Both Janay and Hollis have their original dates as well. Now doesn’t this face sculpt resemble her original? I think it does. I do love the idea of her make-up. I think the pale nude lip is really chic. I just feel that there’s something not quite right with her face up. Maybe it’s the shape of her eyes. Maybe they need to be a little bit bigger. Maybe it’s the shape of her brows. Maybe her eyeshadows need to be intensified. I don’t know. She’s quite unlikeable in this version because she looks straight-up stone cold. I’m hoping for a better version of Alysa for 2019.
Hollis Hughes - Now Hollis is a new character using the Janay 3.0 face sculpt originally created for the Color Infusion line. I’ve always been in love with this face sculpt which got me started collecting Color Infusion dolls and what actually lured me in with Integrity Toys and Fashion Royalty. So I am quite pleased that a Nadja-like character debuted in this face sculpt because I have always imagined the inclusion of a dark skinned girl for The Industry. So for me she automatically holds the top spot for the best character for The Industry line and I’m wishing she comes back again with the same skin tone for the next collection. While I do love Hollis as she is, somehow a part of me wished that she was Reese since some of The Dynamite Girls have transitioned to The Industry line. I can see this face sculpt as a grown up version of DG Reese. Oh well. Reese better make a comeback and she better be pretty. Here is Hollis wearing my favorite fashion ensemble called Cherry Bomb.
That’s all. Kthanksbye.
