Shot for Our Daily Challenge :“Dry”

hate these things but finally come in handy!

August 1, 1989 - Safety Harbor, Florida, USA - Kodak Tri-X negative copied with a Nikon D810 using the Nikon ES-1 slide copier. I expanded the opening in an old plastic slide mount to allow room for the borders around the image. Mild tweaking in Photoshop.

I placed dryer lint on white poster board on a table. Light was from two small lamps aimed through a small white umbrella.

To see a World in a Grain of Sand

And a Heaven in a Wild Flower

Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand

And Eternity in an hour ...

Man was made for Joy & Woe

And when this we rightly know

Thro the World we safely go

Joy & Woe are woven fine

A Clothing for the soul divine

Under every grief & pine

Runs a joy with silken twine ...

When you've spent the last twenty minutes soaking in the chilly river water and it's time to dry off. It's the bear's version of a hair dryer.

Time to spruce up a bit!

My 9th entry for the ABS Builder Challenge Season 1 Finale.

The brush uses a net that allows the bristles to move around a bit, so moving one bristle affects other bristles. The chord for the hair dryer is a soccer goalie control piece. All of the teeth of the comb are well attached to the frame.

The curved dark red seed part was used well over 60 times.

Go Lavender!

A view inside a rotary dryer during manufacture.

An interesting looking contraption which was new to me. According to the company, these dryers enable farmers to harvest grain earlier when the moisture content is higher and this results in reducing weather risks and other benefits that increase productivity.

her vertebrea all lined in a row

she marches to the attic

where she'll rest her head

dreams will drip down her spine

leaking from the pores of her scalp

a tender noise left behind

a shallow murmer

she treads in cold water

lungs collapsing

it is cold

she swallows the ice

her veins and arteries freeze

water engulfing her entire being

but really, it's only the sheets

wrapped up beneath her precious skins and bones

dryer lint, fabric softeners

that's all she'll ever know

hello weekend, thank god you're here.

This is an internal view of a flexible aluminum dryer duct.

Strobist/technical info:

The duct has a diameter of 4" and was curved at a 90-degree angle. One Nikon SB900 speedlight with snoot was fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄4 power and at a distance of 14" into the opposit end of the duct.

The SB900 was triggered by two PocketWizard PlusX's.

Lens: Tokina AT-X Pro Macro 100 F1:2.8 D.

One would also save on the cost of dryer sheets as well as not having to have to clean the lint screen. Static shock, which was always a good laugh for me was probably non existent.
