I couldn't find any information on anyone actually "dry cleaning" a dog - but there are numerous reports of people killing dogs in washing machines and tumble driers.
It does make you wonder what sort of person thinks it would be OK to put a dog in the washer or drier.

I was given one of these definitions as a fun gift and I said it needs to be the two and hey presto the other arrived . Now framed they are ready to go up on the wall - if there is any space left !!
The Land Surveying took up nearly most of the 1970s , after a break doing a stint on the milk and a few months looking down sewers with Dyno Rod it was thirty seven years in Dry Cleaning managing a number of different branches over the time and seeing three owners away over those years !!
I suppose you could call that a mid course correction .
It’s cool when you have a long stop light and can grab a shot.

The sign is in rough shape, but the business didn't look like it was in trouble. Nice to see an old dry cleaning business still serving the community.

This imposing building is just not something you see being built anymore. It dominates the parking lot of this small-town plaza, offering a laundromat on one side and a dry cleaning facility on the other. Chunky neon letters advertise both Vogue's COIN LAUNDRY and FAST SERVICE. We drove by this and immediately turned around to go back to shoot it; I wasn't going to miss getting shots of this great piece of americana.

On Forward Avenue by Shady Avenue, a random little complex that cleans lots of things for you. You can see one of the many "stock" apartment buildings that line the hill behind it.

Shot taken for Saturday Self Challenge 16/12/2023 - Containers !
I first thought of food containers but was not keen on doing them , then thought of shipping containers - not so easy with no coast nearby and only chance would be a passing truck hauling a shipping container on the M25 hmmm !
Got it !! Toxic Waste Containers - now that is a lot easier !! So here are a couple of containers for the toxic waste and another container to rake the waste into when cleaning out the still .
Once again a big thank you to my friend and ex colleague who runs the local dry cleaners which was once the sister shop to the one I used to run .
In the dry cleaners we had toxic waste every week after raking out the still - a right mucky and smelly job . Anyway , the still waste is a black gooey smelly liquid / solid mess depending how well the still had been baked out .
Thing is the still waste is a toxic substance that has to be removed by a licenced company - it is not something to put in the bin or take to the dump !!! Therefore , for a cost the still waste goes into the metal or plastic containers ( usually 100 litres capacity it was that I used to have ) which is collected by carriers and then dealt with to strict guidelines .
What is this still waste I hear - In dry cleaning the clothes or household items are cleaned in a solvent , very often Perchloroethylene and it is used over and over and over again . During the cleaning cycle the solvent passes through filters to help keep the solvent clean and batches of solvent are dropped to the still . That is a container in itself with a steam filled jacket to heat and boil off the solvent which as vapour passes through a condenser turning it back to clear and clean pure solvent again leaving behind all the muck and grunge in the bottom of the still which is what is raked out and put into the toxic waste containers .
As side and a point of interest , it has to be shown that each litre of solvent used cleans at least 80 kilos of work to minimise solvent emissions from the dry cleaning machine or from residue of solvent left in the garments .
Sunshine Laundry was in business in this building by 1927. They remained at this location for the next 90 years. Apparently they sold the property around 2016-2017. The proceeds from the sale allowed them to construct a new state-of-the-art facility at another location. San Antonio, Texas. 5.3.2016.
