The natural scenery that is deepest carved in the soul of a man is the horizon observed from his home during the first 12 years of his life. I proudly present to you one of those.
It bears a loaded symbolic and emotional meaning for my copilot, the friend who invited me to his parental home there. Even seeing this view for the first time, I myself could recognize it immediately too. The classic serenity of this spot. The nature's forms and shapes with the perfectly blended man-made traces, unaltered by time, deeply rooted in our collective consciousness and then evoked out of the mash of centuries.
But for me too it had an affectionate charge. Behind this magical hill on the horizon there is a coast line which I left four decades ago. Meanwhile a series of events took place that overthrew the state of affairs completely. I made an attempt to return in 2013; but I failed as I encountered less than a hospitable landlord at the place supposed to shelter me overnight. I left and drove by Šibenik with tears in my eyes, resulting from a sentiment which is too complex to describe within this limited space.
However, in 2022 the time was ripe for a rewarding revisit. The over a thousand-mile drive dragging a trailer across five countries was laborious to launch. So I was happy enough eventually that everything went smoothly after the take off and concentrated on technicalities during the drive. As we all know, for a decent photography one needs peace of mind, non-scattered concentration and some dedication. I had less than that, and have just one image half the way that deserves your attention. I already shared it with you.
The situation changed when we arrived. Far from busy roads, far from any roads for that matter, this was the place where we dropped anchor. The hamlet is practically the dead end of a very minor road; this yard being the birth spot of my copilot. So I drove the super car in the morning to the backyard's very end and tried to grab a triumphant documentary snapshot. It proved too much, though. The vehicle was alien to this scenery. This vista inspired me by its timeless, almost forgotten imprint. There you have it. Bukovica before your eyes. Like it's been for centuries. The guarding belt of this section of the Adriatic coast, no less than the most beautiful one.

Na Golgoti je umro – a za kog je izdan'o?
Je l pala žrtva ova il kasno ili rano?
Na Golgoti je umro i svijet za to znade,
Al od te žrtve davne još ploda na imade.
A krv je tekla mnoga i srce tu je stalo,
Što nikad nije više onako zakucalo…
I vjekovi su prošli daleki, strašni, crni,
Osušila se krvca i suha još se skvrni.
Prošetala se povijest u sramotničkoj halji,
I što smo Nebu bliži, sve od Neba
smo – dalji!
Na Golgoti je staro prelomilo se drvo,
Pokradoše mu čavle – i to je bilo prvo!
U ime čovječanstva i bratstva i slobode
Počeše krvno kolo da bezbožnički vode.
I derala se družba od gadne strasti pjana;
Mi ubijamo, Bože, sve zbog Tebe –

Na Golgoti je mrtvo i vjetrić tamo tajni

A pokraj krvi davne i ispod drva suha

9115 Šibice Croatia NDH Kutija žigica Kuna 1.50 Društvo Žigica za nezavisnu Državu Hrvatsku u Zagrebu Drvna industrija Vrbovsko (DIV) 10.IV.1941.
Drvna industrija Vrbovsko (DIV), drvnoindustrijsko poduzeće iz Vrbovskoga, osnovano 1950. kao Tvornica pokućstva od savijenog drva. Nastavljalo je dugogodišnju tradiciju preradbe drva u vrbovskome kraju.
Od početka XIX. st. pilanska je obradba drva u vodenicama potočarama na rijeci Dobri i njezinim pritocima bila jedna od glavnih gospodarskih grana toga kraja. Jedna od prvih parnih pilana pokrenuta je, zajedno s radionicama građevne stolarije, tijekom gradnje željezničke pruge u Vrbovskom 1870. Pilanu i radionice preuzeli su domaći vlasnici 1873. i osnovali Drvorezbarsku tvornicu (Holzmanufaktur Fabrik), kao prvi industrijski pogon finalne preradbe drva na području današnje Hrvatske. Približno 350 radnika proizvodilo je kutije za cigare, raznu ambalažu, bačve i namještaj, kao i furnir i uslojene ploče koje su rabili u tu svrhu. Zbog poremećaja na svjetskom tržištu kojemu je tvornica bila okrenuta, pala je pod stečaj 1910. Pogone su 1911. preuzela braća Kronfeld, i u njima osnovala tvornicu žigica. Nedugo potom, stekavši koncesiju nad pogonima, švedsko poduzeće Kreuger nazvalo je tvornicu Drvorezbarska tvornica – Tvornica žigica, te s 200 zaposlenih proizvodilo približno 1 milijun kutija žigica na dan. Tijekom II. svj. rata, u njemačkom bombardiranju 1944. tvornica je uništena, a nakon rata su preostali strojevi po direktivi središnjih vlasti preseljeni u tvornice žigica u Osijeku (→ Tvornica žigica Drava) i Dolcu na Lašvi (BiH).
