Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!
You're off and away!
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go.
You'll look up and down streets. Look 'em over with care.
About some you will say, "I don't choose to go there."
With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet,
you're too smart to go down any not-so-good street.
And you may not find any
you'll want to go down.
In that case, of course,
you'll head straight out of town.
It's opener there
in the wide open air.
Out there things can happen
and frequently do
to people as brainy
and footsy as you.
And then things start to happen,
don't worry. Don't stew.
Just go right along.
You'll start happening too.
OH!
THE PLACES YOU'LL GO!

all of us have to learn is
unconditional love,
which includes not only others,
but ourselves as well. -

I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word. -

CHEF brillianthues wants us to have fun creating a scrapbooking-style collage. Here are some examples of what she has in mind.
➤ Your background must be patterned or textured or both.
➤ The focus must be a woman or man in black and white.
➤ You must use text as an artistic design element.
➤ Include one or more flowers and/or birds and/or butterflies.
➤ NO facsimiles of people (mannequins, aliens, statues).
All images are mine except the maps and toucans, flowers from PicMonkey, the maps in all honesty I don't know where I got them from, I just used the outline of Brazil and added my own art to it..

Today is the 11th day of Valentine's month of February, and I wanted to share my love of curiosity, travel, and research. Of course, picking up the camera has enhanced my curiosity and made me even more aware of my surroundings. Art, too, has enabled me to share my feelings more deeply than by word, which is not one of my strengths

To learn while still a child
What this life is meant to be.
To know it goes beyond myself,
It’s so much more than me.
To overcome the tragedies,
To survive the hardest times.
To face those moments filled with pain,
And still, manage to be kind.
To fight for those who can’t themselves,
To always share my light.
With those who wander in the dark,
To love with all my might.
To still stand up with courage,
Though standing on my own.
To still get up and face each day,
Even when I feel alone.
To try to understand the ones
That no one cares to know.
And make them feel some value.
When the world has let them go.
To be an anchor, strong and true,
That person loyal to the end.
To be a constant source of hope
To my family and my friends.
To live a life of decency,
To share my heart and soul.
To always say I’m sorry
When I’ve harmed both friend and foe.
To be proud of whom I’ve tried to be,
And this life I chose to live.
To make the most of every day
By giving all I have to give.
To me, that’s what this life should be,
To me, that’s what it’s for.
To take what God has given me
And make it so much more
To live a life that matters,
To be someone of great worth.
To love and be loved in return
And make my mark on Earth..

When we moved to southern Connecticut, New London was having a hard time. There were a lot of empty buildings on its main street, but also several cool murals around town. Maybe they gave someone the idea to add some cool art to the boarded up windows on the Bank Street building above. Unfortunately, I couldn't find an artist name or signature. From a quick online search, it looks like the building is till there, still empty, and still for sale - but with some of the window panels moved and missing. Just for info, this building is a couple doors down from the Hollywood murals I posted a while ago:

I would like to thank all of you that have taken the time to view and comment on my photos, it is very much appreciated.
The desert plays host to some pretty funky life. This budding young pad from a prickly pear cactus totally looks off the pages of Dr. Seuss
Inspired by Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax.
This LEGO model recreates the distinctive Once-ler house as seen in the 2012 film adaptation. I wanted to capture the tall, slightly crooked structure and the whimsical architecture that makes the house so memorable.
The build focuses on the unusual stacked design, with curved white walls rising up through several levels, each connected by small balconies and platforms. The sloping orange roof and narrow chimney help emphasise the playful, exaggerated style typical of the world of Dr. Seuss.
Small details such as the hanging bucket, patched wooden boards, flower pots, and railings help give the building a slightly worn and lived-in appearance.
Thanks for looking!

A.B.S. Snorter and his Lego brick sorter,
Will suck up your bricks and do other neat tricks.
He'll place them in bins with nothing but grins,
And sort them by color for only a dollar.
But be careful my friend with the money you spend,
For if it is A.B.S. Snorter you decide to employ,
He may run away with your most precious toy.
I just read this quote in a book I am reading by Abbi Glines, and broke out in tears. The book is called Existence and the reason I am reading it is because I liked a series of hers, so decided to read all of her books. Seeing this quote, along with the context of the scene in the book, broke my heart, and made me smile....
i had to do an errand
had to pick a peck of snide
in a dark and gloomy snide field
that was almost 9 miles wide
i said i do not fear those pants
with nobody inside them
i said and said and said those words
i said them, but i lied them
and there i was caught in the snide
and in that dreadful place
those spooky empty pants and i
were standing face to face
i yelled for help, i screamed, i shrieked
i howled, i yowled, i cried.
oh save me from those pale green pants
with nobody inside them.
but then a strange thing happened
why those pants began to cry
those pants began to tremble
they were just as scared as i
i never heard such whimpering
and i began to see
that i was just as strange to them
as they were strange to me.
i put my arm around their waist
and sat right down beside them
i calmed them down
poor empty pants
with nobody inside them
and now we meet quite often
those empty pants and i
and we never shake or tremble
we both smile and we say
hi
from a book by dr. seuss that scared me to death as a child. these desert trees brought back memories of the snide field
