Sharp-shinned Hawk vs. American Kestrel

And our efforts paid off with dozens of species spotted including thousands of snow geese, darting dunlin, and golden-crowned kinglets foraging on the ground likely driven there by cold temperatures. The group met at Wiley Slough and traveled north over the course of the day. We ended at the East 90 part of the Skagit Wildlife Area Samish Unit. Northern harriers and short-eared owls swooped low over the fields and wetlands while Brendan shared with the group ways we can take action to protect birds in Western Washington.
