Sandhill Cranes
Monte Vista NWR, Monte Vista, CO - Several Sandhill Cranes rehearsing their flyovers for the upcoming Crane Festival weekend (March 11-13). I think they did quite well posing for me in front of a stormy Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range backdrop. The weekend crowds should be sufficiently impressed, but I decided not to join them this year, opting instead for an early preview of the big show.

today i finished this yellow and white striped linen dress. i didn't have enough fabric for the correct width of the skirt. i had to cut out panels and sew them together. the front of the skirt is made of five panels and the back has two panels. a steep learning curve because of the fabric pattern but managed it in the end. this time i remembered to attach the pockets to the side seams :)

it was challenging but once i was focussed it was fun to do. there are many imperfections but i've got to start somewhere. success for me is would i feel happy wearing the finished garment to the shops? if the answer is yes then that'll do.
a cream linen dress is next to be finished then i'll begin the coat.
i'm going to make a mock up of the coat first before buying the fabric. the cream cotton/polyester fabric under the orange handled scissors will be used for this purpose.
