Rare Orchid -Series
one of the Largest orchid in World .The orchid genus Dracula, abbreviated as Drac in horticultural trade, consists of 118 species native to Mexico, Central America, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. The name Dracula literally means "little dragon", an allusion to the mythical Count Dracula, a lead character in numerous vampire novels and films.The name was applied to the orchid because of the blood-red color of several of the species, the strange aspect of the long spurs of the sepals.These epiphytic and terrestrial species are distributed in Central America and the northwest Andes, almost half in Ecuador alone. They prefer shadow and an even, rather cold, temperature.
These caespitose orchids grow in tufts from a short rhizome, with a dense pack of stems. They lack pseudobulbs. On each stems grows one large, thin, plicate leaf with a sharply defined midrib. These glabrous, light to dark green leaves may be spongy, taking over the function of the missing pseudobulb. They are tipped with a mucro (a short tip).The plants were once included in the genus Masdevallia, but became a separate genus in 1978. This genus has been placed in the subtribe Pleurothallidinae.

The mighty Cul Mor taken from the cottage with my telephoto. This is a magnificent mountain that often gets overlooked because of the spectacular shapes of Stac Pollaidh and Suilven, but it is often more photogenic as it seems to attract amazing clouds! This was no exception, I called it Dracula, a favourite reggae track by the mighty Upsetters, because to me , I can see a winged bat flying off to the left of picture!!!!! or was it madness?

Yet, in his immortal heart, the flame of love for Elisabeta burns eternally. The tear that falls down his cheek is a tribute to his lost humanity and a promise that he will never forget her. The painting captures Dracula’s eternal pain for his lost love, an ode to longing and immortality.

A rainforest is an area of tall, mostly evergreen trees and a high amount of rainfall. Rainforests are Earth’s oldest living ecosystems, with some surviving in their present form for at least 70 million years. They are incredibly diverse and complex, home to more than half of the world’s plant and animal species—even though they cover just 6% of Earth’s surface. This makes rainforests astoundingly dense with flora and fauna. Rainforests’ rich biodiversity is incredibly important to our well-being and the well-being of our planet.
There I was, with my camera around my neck, groping around the steamy hot Rare Plant House searching for a metal tag to identify this amazing flower and parachute-like petal extravaganza! And it was a Dog Day so I had my puppy Honey watching me, tipping her head to the right and left, curious.
The Dracula or White Bat Flower like white parachute-like petals and long filaments surrounding them. Inside these parachute petals are these amazing and large (this cluster is about 6 inches in diameter) purple flowers. Exotic hardly begins to describe this outrageous work of art!
The genus Tacca, which includes the Bat flowers, consists of 10 species of flowering plants native to tropical regions of Africa, Australia, and south-eastern Asia. In older texts, the genus was treated in its own family Taccaceae, but the 2003 APG II system incorporates it into the family Dioscoreaceae. Taccaceae is native to Malaysia.

Bran Castle, stated to have been built in the 13th century, is associated with myths and mysteries, with its much deliberated connection to the Count of Dracula in famous novel by Bram Stoker.
The castle is located in Transylvania region of Romania

Slains Castle is said to be the inspiration for Dracula's Castle in Bram Stoker's novel. Bram Stoker used to holiday at nearby Cruden Bay and went for walks to the castle.
The castle was a home (home of the Earls of Errol who were the chiefs of the Clan Hay) until the 1920s when the roof was removed to avoid paying tax.
