Back in mid-August, when I first heard Alaskan was putting this one out, I said on Facebook I’d feature this. I love the concept of dark IPAs (an oxymoronic statement, I know). Alaskan Brewery doesn’t produce crap, so I felt pretty safe in featuring this one blind. True enough, their Double Black IPA was good. My only real complaint is I felt it didn’t deliver what the $9 price point promised. The flavor profile didn’t have that kick my ass “wow” that I expected.
But, then again, I am a beer snob.
Also, sorry I didn’t poor this into a glass. On the night I shot this, I went to meet friends for some rounds. Even though I haven’t been out in over 6 months, I do know myself well enough to know that I wouldn’t be in any condition to shoot photos when I got back…much less drink a 22oz bottle of high ABV beer.
