Same photo but utilising multiple shots at different focal points, and blended as a stacked photo in photoshop. I think it is much better. There is an excellent article in Digital Photography School about focus stacking. All new territory for me.

Macro Mondays - DOTS
It may not look like the biggest dot in the world and in truth, it is quite tiny. It does have power disproportionate to its size.
This dot is sometimes a period which is hugely important in the field of written communication. But that is dwarfed by its importance when it becomes a decimal point. Its use in mathematics has driven science and in recent years has made it possible to measure and express distances in outer space.
Consider that 1 light year is equal to about 6 trillion miles and the nearest star to earth is over 4 light years away , expressed without using a decimal point would be 24 followed by 12 zeroes. Yes, we have concocted other terms to express large numbers, but as I understand it they are not things easily used by the super computers that do much of the legwork in astrophysics.

Chickpea is a lover of skittles, however every time he eats them he comes out in a rash, a rainbow rash of colourful dots :)
This is the camera I used to take this series of photographs at Reliquaire in Latrobe. It is quite incredible to see a store in rural Tasmania that sells such amazing things. I hope I've given you a taste of what it's like to walk through their front door. I'm reminded of Howard Carter's words after the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb. His patron Lord Carnarvon asked what he could see, and Carter replied, "Wonderful things!"
The Leica company has been making truly wonderful cameras in Germany for over 100 years, and their modern branding of the famous red dot is iconic in camera circles. This little camera (Leica D-Lux 7) punches way beyond its weight in all kinds of light situations - as I hope you have been able to see.
This photograph also marks a milestone for me after five years on Flickr (in what one might call a vexed relationship). Both of us have made it this far, though some of you were here from the very first time the Flickr platform appeared some 20 years ago. Amazing.
It is even more amazing when I checked my stats and found that this photograph marks 10 million views for my page. So a little celebration (though how many of those "views" are bots is still a very relevant question).
